Size: approx 24" wide x 20" long, excluding handle.

Materials:
Worsted-weight yarn Wintuk® (100% Acrilan Acrylic; 3.5 oz skein) by Caron: 5 skeins Oatmeal. Knitting needles size 13 (9mm) or size needed to obtain Gauge. Yarn needle.

Gauge: In St st (k on RS, p on WS) using 2 strands of yarn held tog, 5 sts and 7 rows = 2". To save time, take time to check your gauge.

Notes
Work with 2 strands of yarn held tog throughout.

Special Abbreviations

  • CDD (center double decrease): With yarn in back of needle, sl 2 sts tog as if to knit, knit the next st from left-hand needle, then place left needle tip through both slipped sts tog, passing them over the knit st.
  • Sl1-k2tog-psso: Sl 1 st knitwise from left needle to right needle, then knit next 2 sts tog, place tip of left needle into slipped st and pass it over the k2tog st.
  • Ssk (slip, slip, knit): Sl 2 sts knitwise (one at a time) from left to right needle, insert tip of left needle into fronts of both sts and k2tog.
  • Bar Inc: Knit into the front and then the back lp of a single st.

Bag
Base: (make one)
With 2 strands of yarn held tog as 1, cast on 20 sts. Working in garter st (knit every row), work as follows:
Row 1: Knit.
Row 2: K1, bar inc in next st, knit to last 2 sts, bar inc in next st, k1--22 sts.
Rep Rows 1 and 2 until there are 40 sts. Then work 3 rows even.
Dec Row 1: K1, k2tog, work to last 3 sts, k2tog, k1--38 sts.
Row 2: Knit.
Rep last 2 rows until 20 sts rem. Bind off all sts.

Sides: (make two)
With 2 strands of yarn held tog as 1, cast on 60 sts.
Rows 1-20: Beg with a right-side row, work 20 rows in St st (knit right-side rows; purl wrong-side rows).
Row 21: (RS) Knit, wrapping yarn around needle twice for each st.

Row 22: Knit, dropping extra wrap on each st.
Rep Rows 1-22 once, then work Rows 1-19 once. Work 6 rows in garter st.

Rim/Handle Shaping:
Bind off 20 sts at beg of next 2 rows, then dec 1 st each end every other row until 6 sts rem. Work in garter st for 30 rows. Bind off rem sts.

Assembly:
Sew sides to base. Sew side seams. Sew tops of straps tog.
