Her competitiveness is also what separates her from your average player. She hates to lose and it shows not only in games, but also in training. I am just glad that she plays for us!”

WUSA Career:

Prinz electrified the WUSA in 2002, scoring 12 goals and 8 assists in only 15 games. With 32 points, Prinz ended the regular season tied for second in the WUSA in points. She scored the game-winning goal in the Founders Cups to earn MVP honors.

German National Team:

Prinz has scored 47 goals in 100 appearances for Germany. She made her national team debut in July of 1994 and is tied for second all-time in career goals and sixth all-time in National Team appearances for Germany. She has led Germany to the European Championship in 1995, 1997, and 2001, the Olympic bronze medal in Sydney in 2000, and a second place finish in the 1995 Women’s World Cup.

Club:

She was named the German Player of the Year in 2001 and 2002. Prinz has led her club team, FFC Frankfurt, to numerous championships. In 1999/2000, Prinz scored 24 goals and helped Frankfurt capture both the German League and German Cup titles. In 2001 Prinz guided FFC Frankfurt to the coveted “treble” – the German League, German Cup, and the first-ever European Cup Championship, garnering MVP honors.

Personal:

Birgit received her degree in Massage Physiotherapy…Hobbies include spending time with friends, playing badminton and squash, and taking walks with her dog, Billy.
