Principals

Our Principal, Mr. Dan Hoyle, grew up in Drexel and graduated from Drexel High School. He graduated from Duke University. He also received his Master’s in Reading from ASU. He taught school for 10 years and has been a Principal for 17 years.

A message from Mr. Hoyle to the students of Hallyburton:

“One of my personal goals in education is to give something back to the community in which I grew up.  I enjoy the fact that I have the opportunity to work in a community and in a school which provided me with so much in my own early years.  I would like to challenge every student who comes through Hallyburton Elementary to look for ways they can make a positive impact on their own community--now and in the future.

Mr. Teffeteller, Assistant  Principal

“I’m so excited about working with the students, parents, and staff of Drexel and Hallyburton this year!  Everyone has been so kind and helpful as I’ve begun working with the two schools. Just to tell you a little about myself, I was a teacher in Tennessee for nine years, where I received my Bachelor of Arts and Master of Science at the University of Tennessee.  After earning my Education Specialist degree in Instructional Leadership and Supervision at Tennessee Tech University, I worked in Cabarrus County as an assistant principal.  My wife, three children, and I now live in Valdese, where we enjoy going to church, visiting with family, and playing with our cat, Bart.  My favorite book is TheWatsons Go to Birmingham—1963, by Christopher Paul Curtis.  If you ever get the chance to read it, I’d love to discuss it with you.  Please feel free to come by any time to visit or talk.  I’m truly looking forward to getting to know the students and community of Drexel and am confident that this will be the best year ever!”
