We have a lot of debts. My wife has got an opportunity to work in an organization dealing with educational tools. The organization is run by a Muslim. My concern is that Islam does not allow women to work in an environment where both men and women are working. But my wife says in Islam it is mentioned that if there is a situation where there is a necessity for woman to work, it is permissible. She always wears Hijab. My salary is not enough to pay all the debts. My Wife is saying that she will work till all our debts are paid. Please give me your fatwa on this. (India)

 If a lady HAS to work then she should work in such an environment where there are no men; such as teaching children or ladies, sewing, babysitting etc. Whatever the options may be, even though it may be to repay a loan, it’s important that there should not be any mixing with men or uncovering of one’s self because it is imperative that the face should be covered when confronting any man.
