THE ASSOCIATION OF POLISH MALACOLOGISTS

STOWARZYSZENIE MALAKOLOGÓW POLSKICH


The Association of Polish Malacologists (APM) was founded in December 1994 on the initiative of Professor Stefan W. Alexandrowicz (Krakow). The headquarters of the Association is located in Poznan. The APM has 60 members, including professional malacologists, students, hobbyists and shells collectors, representing environmental and applied malacology, freshwater and terrestrial ecology, systematics, biogeography, phylogeny and evolution, physiology, as well as palaeontology, especially Quaternary malacology. The primary goal of the Association is to promote the study of malacology and its related sciences. The activities of the Association are organizing conferences, publishing scientific literature, giving medals and awards, and organizing yearly contests of the best Ph.D. and M.S. theses. Since 1995 the Association of Polish Malacologists has been co-editor of the Folia Malacologica, the journal of Polish malacologists.
