Okay, so I finally saw the trailer. I actually liked it. I guess the line doesn't bother me that much.

The SNL sketch was rad. Rachel Dratch is hilarious.

I just randomly called [info]lizabethy on her cell phone and woke her up! Praise me and my rudeness. It was awesome. Sleepy Bethy and her fun accent.

ugh [May. 4th, 2004|01:59 am]

I haven't seen the trailer... I got mad reading everyone else's posts, and then I decided that I just have to look at it like a movie and act like I don't know that Ron said it in the book. It's just a movie and compared to the books, the movies are quite dumb.

Anyway... Happy slightly belated birthday to Mary.

No more Friend of the Month, so I'm back to boring, sporadic entries and memes.

Stolen from the fair and lovely [info]lina_granger:

The Real Life Meme: So many of us know so many stupid things about each other due to endless lists like these. We know what we look for first in the other gender, our favorite colors, and whether we pee in the shower (permit me to say: WTF???) But we still mix up which of our best friends is in Missouri and which is in Mississippi. Be as specific or vague as you like, answer only the questions you feel comfortable with but some of your web friends might like to know the basic facts that people you meet in bars immediately find out.

Where are you? Detroit.
What do you (want to) do? Be a lawyer. Although, right now, immediately, I'd settle for eating dinner.
What did you study/are you studying/do you intend to study in school? I've just ended my first year of law school. I have four finals starting next week. Zippity doo da.
Are you married/do you have an SO? I'm divorced, but I'm dating someone.
Do you have kids? Fuck no.
If so, names/ages? N/A
If not (or even if so), what about brothers/sisters? Are your parents an important factor in your life? I have one sister, Sarah, who's 28. She's got kids. I don't know if that matters. I'm close with my parents, although I don't tell them more about my life than they need to know.
How old are you? 26, but I'll be 27 in less than three weeks.
What do you do for fun when you're not on the web? I love to go to the movies, I like concerts, reading, going to the gym, going to bars....
Do you follow a religion? If so, which? I think organized religion works for some people. It doesn't for me. I'm an agnostic.

Today is the last Friend of the Day.

Friend of the Day for April 30: [info]zanymuggle

I like Dave because he has a HUGE heart, and he's super-friendly and a very smart guy. He started my fan club, so he gets major points right there. :P He's intelligent and thoughtful and an all around zany Muggle.

Question of the Day: Will you be in my cult? I haven't established a theme yet, but I predict that it will involve ice cream sandwiches.

Jane

P.S. Everyone thank whomever it is you thank that [info]the_portkey made it out of life alive today when she almost got plowed by a semi on the freeway. Curse the Department of Transportation and its crummy timing.

Friend of the Day for yesterday: [info]thetreacletart

I like Lydia because she's super funny in that dry sort of way and her entries always make me smile. I think she's very insightful and a great writer. I don't know her very well, but what I know, I like.

Friend of the Day for today: [info]wm_law2003

I don't know Amy all that well, either, but she was one of my first reviewers ever and I have a special place for her in my fandom heart. :P She's a lawyer, and I want to be a lawyer, so in a way you could say I want to be her. She wrote her own spiffy fan fiction way back when about a Muggle lawyer (yes, i read it!) which I found entertaining. Cheers!

Grrrr. [Apr. 27th, 2004|09:37 am]

I still have no job for the summer. Hateful. I may have to go work at the super swanky mall. I'd make more money that way, but I really want experience.

Boo.

Friend of the Day: [info]the_portkey

Rox has already been named my friend of the month for her awesome computer skills and patience (see previous entry). Today, she is my friend of the day. Computer skills notwithstanding, I love Roxanne because she's intense, super intelligent, good-hearted and very funny. She's got a sharp wit and she's a spectacular writer who works hard on everything she does. She's a super friend and I adore her.

I'm almost done with Friend of the Day. So sad.

Question of the Day: Isn't Amadeus a great movie?

Dur. [Apr. 25th, 2004|03:11 pm]
Okay, before I catch up on my Friends of the Day, I have to give you my Friend of the Month.

[info]the_portkey spent about 4 hours on IM with me on Friday helping me get viruses off my laptop. She's done that before - helped me fix my stupid, lovely computer via Yahoo!Messenger - when she's at work and just felt like chatting. She saved me loads of time and probably even more grief - She Rox. And, in general, she's one of my closest fandom friends and I love her dearly. I'd fistfight for her.

Friend of the Day for Saturday: [info]sunshyndaisies

I like Jen because she's a nice girl and she writes well. She was one of the first HP people I met, and she found a story of mine at ff.net and took the time to personally urge me to submit it at Checkmated. She always leaves great reviews, and in real life, she's been through a lot of junk over the last year and came out like a champ. Three cheers.

Friend of the Day for today: [info]thaliachaunacy

I don't even really know what to say about Lou... words fail me... but also one of my dearest fandom friends and a kickass girl. She's honest, she's got a huge heart and a big shiny brain, and she's a Gemini, which makes her perfect. I'd fistfight for her, too. Back off, bitches. Oh, and she's pretty dang brave. She'll say things that need to be said, even if it might come slap her later, because somebody's got to do it. I luuuuurve her. *straight kiss*

Studying today. Tomorrow's my last day of class, then I have a free week before finals. I shall study. And probably watch lots of TV and lament my life. And possibly drink.

Stuffy!!!! Why?????

Happy Friday. Friend of the Day: [info]shellyk

I like Michele because she's tough but kinda sweet, writes great fiction, put together an awesome website which she was kind enough to invite me to help moderate for a spell, has a huge heart and gets to wear barrister's robes. She keeps herself afloat in the fandom and still manages to have time to be an attorney - figure that one out. Not only that, but she puts up with the boss from hell. Die, Umbitch, Die.

Everyone cheer for Michele! *cheer cheer cheer*

Question (sort of) of the Day, stolen lovingly from [info]wm_law2003: Make an anonymous post with three clues and I will try to guess who you are.

I don't log IP addresses, so fire away. But don't say anything mean about me or I'll let loose venomous bitching in my next entry. You all know what I'm capable of.

First off, thanks for all the well-wishes on my interview. I haven't gone yet, so I have nothing to report.

I have an interview today at 5:00. I have ten minutes to convince them that out of 41 people, I should be one of the 17 they take.

Friend of the Day: [info]seakays.

I love Sue because she seems to really enjoy her life. Her posts about her family and her fun life just make me happy. She's got great kids and she's always busy and happy. She leaves great reviews for fics she likes, never leaves anyone hanging and always is thorough - she lets you know she paid attention to what you wrote. She always seems to know just what to say - I'll bet she's quite something in real life.

Question of the Day: Why didn't any of you reply to yesterday's QotD? Shame.

Kele is a supermom! I also like her because she's funny, and because she gets to the point, and really because I think she's got a mature outlook on life. She's not afraid to be emotional but she still gets the job done. I don't think I could deal with three kids, and she's my age. It's whack. She rules. Tell her so.

Question of the Day: Chris Isaak: Hot or Not?

[Listening to... |Some Lame Song by Evanescence]

Friend of the Day: [info]purebloodgryff

I like Donna because she's smart and sharp, and she's caring (another caring person on Janey's Flist!). She's sort of a woman of few words on LJ here, but nary a wasted breath dost she loose. What am I saying? Anyway, she was there for me in a really tough spot and she took everything like a champ and she's awesome.

Question of the Day: Why am I addicted to food? I hate being an emotional eater.

Evanescence is kind of lame. They're a bit like Linkin Park in that they've got pretty good instrumentation but their lyrics suck so badly I wish the songs were in German so I didn't realize it.

Anybody with me on that one?

Friend of the Day: [info]lizabethy

I love Beth because she's smart, funny, kind, thoughtful, etc.... leaves a girl her phone number when she needs it most... she's super sensitive and perceptive and things really affect her. Some may see that as a flaw, but understanding human nature and feeling for others is NEVER a bad thing. Even when it's misdirected, it still gives hope for mankind that there are people out there like Beth, who just want everyone to feel loved.

Question of the Day: Should I have McDonald's for lunch? I'm fasting tomorrow and I think I need to make up for it.

I'm behind on my friends of the month!

Friend of the Day for Friday is [info]ladyanabelle.

I like Annie because she's got a good heart and stands up for her friends. She's funny and sweet and toasted Chickadilly out loud at a bar, which is awesome. I can forgive her for being from a state shaped like underpants because she's so cool.

Friend of the Day for Saturday is [info]leftsockarchive.

I like Rachel because she seems like a girl after my own heart. Her sense of humor appears to be very similar to mine. Sometimes I feel like I'm reading my own posts. I don't know her very well yet, but I look forward to it.

Friend of the Day for today is [info]lina_granger.

I like Lina for a lot of reasons... she's definitely one of the most interesting people I've met... She's very European, for sure, and she's not shy and she doesn't mince words, but she's not mean, either. She's sensitive and super intelligent and perceptive, and she cares. Go Lina!

I've noticed a theme in my Friend of the Day synopses... most everyone I've described has had the phrase "cares about people" in her descriptions. Way to go, Flist! You people care!

Question of the Day: What song do you absolutely hate?

Meme! [Apr. 15th, 2004|11:32 am]
[Current Mood | cranky]

I stole the meme! From Annie and Shelly.

RULES: I want everyone who reads this to ask me 3 questions, no more no less. Ask me anything you want. Then I want you to go to your journal, copy and paste this, allowing your friends (including myself) to ask you anything.

Friend of the Day: [info]irisanderson

I like Latrice because she says funny things and makes cool avatars. The way she types reminds me of emails from a close friend of mine; I wonder if she talks that way, too. I like that she's read the LoTR trilogy all the way through and reads it on the bus to avoid creepy dudes. I think it's cool that she lives in a big city that people actually like (stupid Detroit *kicks tire*).

QotD:

Oy. [Apr. 13th, 2004|11:30 am]
I am so very behind. I think I have two chapters to read of Roxanne's story. I must do that. I have very little time for this world anymore. I can write LJ entries because they don't require quality and it takes me about five minutes. I can't write stories. I can't read stories. Law school, Fa-Q.

Friend of the Day for yesterday: [info]harpinred

Monique seems to have abandoned LJ, so it's highly probable she won't even see this, but I like her because she's good-natured and cool, and she plays the harp and wears fun hats. Always good times. It takes balls to wear hats and pull it off well.

Friend of the Day for today: [info]hughroe

I like Jim because he never wastes his words, he's always got something interesting to say, and he's got some pretty rough experiences to back it up. People can talk a good game about the government and what they think of things, but Jim's been there, and I dare anyone to tell him he has no right. Plus, he kind of looks like a young Santa Claus, which always helps.

Question of the Day: How tall are you, and how tall do you wish you were?

Jane
Link16 slaps|Slap Me.

Grumble. [Apr. 11th, 2004|12:37 pm]
Happy Freakin' Easter, everyone. I get to do homework. Sometimes I wish I were religious so I could get out of reading. That was a horrible thing to say.

Friend of the Day: [info]freelancerrh.

I like Liberty because she writes great stories - hers are some of the best at CM and you should run and read them straight away if you already haven't. If you have, read them again. I can't say it enough. I like her because she's friendly and good natured, and although she doesn't write in her LJ much and may not see this, I felt she should know.

In other news...

I have no other news. Oh! I think I lost some weight while I had the flu. Score!

ETA: I've decided not to dye my hair. I haven't gone more than six months without dying it since I was 16. I need to give it a rest. Thanks for the input.

So I got this review for "I suck at titles", which is that parody I wrote long ago:

"Was this FF to insult harry potter and his friends? I don't believe that actuall HP fans would write a thing like that. Its very rude to insult HP in a HP fan site."

*snort*

Friend of the Day for Saturday is [info]elucreh.

I like Lu because she's sensitive, and because she decided to just jump into a website and make some friends and she succeeded by just being a nice gal. She's open and writes cute stories, and her name is pretty rad.

Question of the Day:

Should I dye my hair or just leave it alone?

Some random hellos: To [info]lizabethy, who needs to be less sad, and to [info]thaliachaunacy, who needs to think of herself first, and particularly to [info]ladyanabelle, because she is just a really nice chick and deserves to be treated like a really nice chick.
