What is our salvation based on?
Did Christ atone for our sins on the cross or in hell?

How Jesus accomplished our salvation is clearly presented in scripture. It is not open to interpretation because it is so plainly stated. It does not depend on some unique interpretation of one word. While there are many mysteries and things that cannot be determined beyond a doubt in scripture, the method and place where our salvation was secured is not in question. The bible is clear. Our salvation was accomplished as a result of the death of the body Jesus Christ on the cross. There can be no confusion as to what the word used for body means, it is always used in referring the physical and temporal body of a person. It was not a death of his spirit or soul and it was not accomplished in hell. That much is abundantly clear.

Colossians 2:13 ¶ And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses; 14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

Ephesians 2:16 And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby: It was accomplished in the death of His body, on the cross, not in his soul or spirit in Hell

Colossians 1:20 And, having made peace through the blood of his cross, by him to reconcile all things unto himself; by him, I say, whether they be things in earth, or things in heaven.  21 And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled  22 In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight:

Hebrews 10:10 By the which will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. not soul, not spirit, but body

1 Peter 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.  defines the agent of salvation and the location.

The atonement that is taught and believed by the Word of Faith teachers, is not the atonement of Jesus Christ. It is an atonement of their imagination. Only His death of His body on the Cross saves you. Anything other than that is a false salvation. There never was nor never will be a Jesus who paid for your sins by suffering hell. That is a false Christ, a false gospel, and a false hope.
