FELTED SLIPPERS
By Robin Smith

MATERIALS:Double strand of worsted weight yarn or a single strand of bulky weight yarn or a single strand of bulky weight wool (NO MANMADE OR PLANT FIBERS, no "Superwash"), size #11 needles
GAUGE: About 2 3/4 st/inch (I rarely check with felting)
SIZE: Child's medium (women's small, women's medium, women's large/men's small, men's medium, men's large). Remember that felting is more an art than a science--checking for size during the felting process is ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL for correct sizing.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Cast on 28(30,32,34,36,38) stitches. Stockinette stitch (knit a row, purl a row) until piece is 2" longer than the foot.
Toe Decrease:
Row 1 (RS): <K2, K2tog> repeat until you run out of stitches on the needle
Row 2: Purl
Row 3: <K1, K2tog> repeat until you run out of stitches
Row 4: Purl
Row 5: <K2tog> repeat until you run out of stitches. Break yarn, leaving a 15" tail. Thread yarn through remaining sts.
Make another slipper.
Finishing:
Fold one of the slippers together, wrong side facing. The sides will be together. Away from the toe, fold the cast-on edge together, sew using a loose whipstitch. Then, sew fro the toe to the middle, leaving 5 1/2(6, 6 1/2, 7, 7 1/2, 8) inches for foot opening. If you want a little sparkle or embellishment, sew a bit of novelty yarn around opening. Beads are sweet. Felt. (See instructions at www.angelhairyarn.com for further felting instructions if you are not familiar with the process. Look for the free felted striped bag pattern on the website.)

HIP HOP FELTED SLIPPERS
By Robin Smith

Because of the unique spin of Hip-Hop, it needs to really shrink and felt to reach the desired thickness. That's why it needs its own pattern!

MATERIALS: #15 needles, 1 skein of Berroco "Hip Hop"
GAUGE: 9 st/4" (2.25 stitches/inch)
SIZE: Child's medium (women's small, women's medium, women's large/men's small, men's medium). Remember that felting is more an art than a science--checking for size during the felting process is ABSOLUTELY CRITICAL for correct sizing.

INSTRUCTIONS:
Cast on 24(28,30,32,34) stitches. Stockinette stitch (Knit a row, purl a row) until piece is 11(12, 12 1/2, 13, 14) inches long--about 3" longer than the length of the foot.
Decrease:
Row 1 (RS): <K2, K2tog> repeat until you run out of stitches
Row 2: Purl
Row 3: <K1, K2tog> repeat until you run out of stitches
Row 4: Purl
Row 5: <K2tog> repeat until you run out of stitches. Break yarn, leaving a 15' tail. Thread yarn through remaining sts.
Make another slipper.

Finishing: See instructions for basic felted slipper, above.
