DAILY FEATURE: CONVENTION
COUNTDOWN

President Hanks? Probably not.

Will Tom Hanks follow in the footsteps of other actors-turned-politicians like the late President Ronald Reagan and Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger? Probably not. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Hanks says he's "never had any type of political aspirations. I don't think I'd do a better job in politics of educating anybody, or enlightening anybody -- and certainly not of entertaining anybody. I just don't that it's my forte." That's good news, at least, for movie fans.

Back to the trail

President Bush and Sen. John Kerry (D-Mass.) head back to campaigning this week after taking last week off for ceremonies honoring the late President Reagan. But Kerry has exactly one week before another president enters the stage -- President Clinton, whose book, My Life, comes out on June 22. Expect Clinton to soak up some media attention that Kerry needs in order to make his public positions known.
