The Convention will be held at the beautiful Atlanta Marriott Marquis Hotel in the heart of downtown Atlanta’s Peachtree Center. Check out the Marriott website for all sorts of information.
The room rate for attendees of the LP National Convention is only $99 per night for single, double, triple or quad occupancy. (The Hotel assures us that this is a lower rate than what is available to the public.)
Make your room reservation NOW by calling one of the above numbers for the Marriott. The Marriott can only guarantee room availability through May 5, 2004. Be sure to mention that you are with the “Libertarian Party National Convention” to get the $99 rate. After the May 5th cutoff date, the hotel will continue to honor the $99 rate, but it will be "subject to availability." It is important that you stay in the Convention Hotel and that your reservation is referenced as being a part of our Group.
You can also make your room reservation on-line at this special Marriott link for our Convention.
If you are interested in room-sharing, please contact Joseph Henchman at JDHenchman@aol.com, or call (760) 390-1152 or (760) 945-2196; he will help coordinate people interested in room-sharing.
If you are interested in a Suite, you can take a look at the suite floor plans (with prices) available for our Convention.
If you are flying into Hartsfield, there are a few choices for getting to the Marriott. There are some shuttle buses that go to the hotel for about $14. Taxis run on a flat rate: $26 for one person, $28 for two people, $30 for three people.
By far the least expensive choice is MARTA (Metro Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority). They have trains that run very frequently, departing near the baggage claim area, and the cost is only $1.75. You can take any northbound train and get off at the Peachtree Center Station. The only drawback is that it lets out at the Peachtree Center Mall (adjoining the Marriott) and you have to walk through some of the Mall (particularly the food court).
If you’re driving in, parking at the Marriott is (unfortunately) quite expensive – $20/day (!) There are many parking garages in the area, and there is a local LP activist checking into nearby alternatives. (The area is primarily a business district, so we should be able to get some decent rates for this holiday weekend.) As soon as we have info on this it will be posted here.
Another option is to park at one of the MARTA stations and take the train to the Peachtree Center Station. Some have no parking; some have free “daily” parking (less than 24 hrs), but do charge either $3 or $6 for overnight parking (more than 24 hrs).
