General Description
The new development of magnet-physik MagnetoPulS® enables a contact-free shaping of materials, especially those in cylindrical shapes which are to be combined with each other. This combination is high-pressure-safe.

The contact-free shaping is mainly used for pipes and rings of materials which can be shaped mechanically, i.e. copper, aluminium and light alloys. Examples of shapes and contact-free shaping of parts can be taken from the drawings in this prospective.

By the shaping process the coatings of the parts to be shaped are not damaged. All in all this leads to a careful product treatment as well as to an ecologically beneficial process.

Result: No SOLDERING, no WELDING, no GLUEING, no SCREWING and nevertheless the combination of different parts and materials to one finished product is achieved.

Method
New Impulse magnetizers MagnetoPulS® enable the easy shaping of materials in many cases, especially those in cylindrical shapes which are to be pressed on another body.

Graphic: ring of metal in a magnetic field MagnetoPulS® equipment which have been developed for this purpose produce especially high current impulses up to 500 kA and quick magnetic field impulses up to 200000 A/cm in 0,1 ms.

The shaping of e.g. a ring of metal in a magnetic field is achieved by the combination of the magnetic field B of a current I1 and the current I2 induced in the ring. It is proportional to the product K = B • I2.
 

The picture shows schematically how the magnetic field is concentrated in the gap between the conductors which causes a high pressure on the inner part.

The force K can clearly be seen in the course of the magnetic field which squeezes
the ring.

Which metal parts can be shaped ?
Mainly pipes and rings of materials which can be shaped mechanically, e.g. copper, aluminium and light metal alloys and also steels and alloys with a suitable flow behaviour.

At the moment tools with the following dimensions are available:

13 mm Ø x 16 mm 19 mm Ø x 16 mm
23 mm Ø x 20 mm 26 mm Ø x 16 mm
32 mm Ø x 20 mm 37 mm Ø x 33 mm
42 mm Ø x 27 mm 64 mm Ø x 16 mm

Other dimensions can be manufactured on request.

The parts to be shaped should fit in these tools with a little space. They should be smaller in diameter by max. 1 - 3 mm.
