Peterson Case - Geragos - Tell & Show? Part II

Continuing with the points from Geragos' opening statements.

  1. __ Geragos said two “shock jocks came up to his front yard with bullhorns --- bullhorns and was screaming murderer at him within the week on the front lawn”. *If he is referring to the John & Ken Show hosts from L.A. INCORRECT That did not occur until January, not “within the week”. Big X for this one.
  2. OS2

  3. __ Geragos said that because Scott had the “goatee” in February during the second search warrant, this means he was not changing his appearance to flee in April. *Geragos conveniently ignored the hair dye job that included not just scalp hair, but eyebrows, beard and mustache. No, this would not fool law enforcement, but it would possibly throw a casual observer off at a ticket line, and possibly make him look more like the brother who’s ID he borrowed, John.
  4. __ Geragos said Kim McGregor was not charged for the burglary of Scott’s home because the police made her into an informant against Scott. *Can police stop Scott from bringing a suit against Kim? Did he? This is a curious one.
  5. __ Geragos said Steve Jacobson will testify that he believed Amber Frey was involved and there was “no way” Scott could have committed this crime alone. *He may get a check mark for this one easily. But how will Jacobson temper this statement? It was based on what he knew then.
  6. __ Geragos said “Scott’s employee” resigned and customers abandoned him. * Scott terminated the office/warehouse lease, in writing on January 13. JANUARY 13, to be effective in 30 days. The family was still supporting him in public then. The volunteer center was still populated and in full swing. Police did not have the conversation with the Rocha family revealing the Amber affair until January 15. Scott was under the pressure of suspicion, yes, before January 15… but enough pressure to try to sell the house and close up his office? I don't see that... making the decision to pull up stakes when Laci had been missing 3 weeks? Did this employee “resign” or did Scott let him go?
  7. __ Geragos said Scott Peterson was “doing everything that he could to find Laci” *I have already pointed out my rebuttal to this in this entry. Scott Peterson’s actions were to protect himself, not to find his wife.
  8. __ Geragos said Amy would testify that she told detectives that a photo of the khaki pants, as purchased by Laci and that correspond with those she was found in, did not match the ones she saw Laci in on the night of the 23rd.
  9. __ Geragos said the dark object on Conner’s ear was “electrical tape” and that Conner’s ear remained folded down after it was removed *So the “kidnappers taped this poor baby’s ear into a fold? What are they? Origami murderers? Give me a break and forgive me for the levity. It was KELP. It it were electrical tape the coroner would have saved it, just as they did other manmade objects found on Conner.
  10. __ Geragos said twine was placed on Conner after his birth, and so was plastic tape around his neck. * This is getting utterly ridiculous. We have a black item that Geragos says is electrical tape but others say is kelp and we have twine and plastic tape. It’s debris, you idiot! Geragos wants us to believe someone removed this baby from Laci then draped it in this array of twine and tape and waited for Laci’s body to show up then placed it on the shore… the day BEFORE she washed up, no less. Or alternately he may claim that Conner was preserved in a plastic bag in the water all those months. So the same rocks and such that damaged poor Laci’s body, did not tear this miraculous plastic bag? Insane! If Geragos is going to claim the baby was alive long enough for the umbilical cord to be clamped and fall away, then he better explain the reported meconium still present on or in the fetus.
  11. __ Geragos said Conner was born alive. * See above. Insane!
  12. __ Geragos said Conner’s umbilical cord was cut because it is a quarter inch long and that’s the length it is normally on a live birth. *Did Geragos even look at his own infants in their first few days? The umbilical cord is several inches long until it drops away leaving the “belly button” behind. If an umbilical cord is not cut and is left attached to both the baby and the placenta, it naturally decomposes and breaks away about a quarter inch from the abdomen. I believe this would have occurred as Conner decomposed in the uterus and as his body was expelled from Laci, the placenta and decomposed umbilical cord broke away in the natural spot on the abdomen. I hope the prosecution’s expert will address this adequately.
  13. __ Geragos said Scott’s blood was on the truck door and tailgate and that it was old blood, showed his scabbed hand and said they had nothing to do with Laci. *But he told Gloria Gomez in a TV interview that he cut his hand that day, (Christmas Eve) reaching into the toolbox in the truck. That’s not old blood. Note that Geragos made the point several times they “got nothing” from the truck. What about the toolbox?
  14. __ Geragos said the Medinas believe the burglary of their home occurred on 12/24 not 12/26 as the police contend and will testify to that. He said the Medinas gave their safe to the police to be dusted for fingerprints, at the request of the defense, but that MPD “destroyed” the safe *Another curious one to listen for. Doesn’t sound right.
  15. __ Geragos said that “head hair” was found in the toolbox and implied it came from Det. Brocchini. *But he didn’t finish this line of thought, and he didn’t mention Scott’s blood in the toolbox, or absence of it?
  16. __ Geragos said , yet again, that Laci wanted to close off the park from her street and was an “activist” for that. *And again I say… if Laci thought that persons from that park were so undesirable she did not want them on her street, why would she walk there while heavily pregnant and therefore vulnerable?
  17. __ Geragos said he has witnesses to Laci walking proving she was alive after Scott left. *I am not going over this tired timeline again. These people saw Laci in black pants. Most saw her after the dog was returned to the yard by Karen Servas.
  18. __ Geragos said Scott had only a 12 foot boat. *All previous reports say it was a 14 foot boat.
  19. __ Geragos said the prosecution had “plant material” on them, as if this were not true. *There was also “plant material” reportedly found on the hair retrieved from the pliers, not to mention some other substance, as yet unrevealed. Geragos does not mention either of these.

As always, any comments I make on the Peterson case and the persons involved is opinion and speculation on my part based on media reports and conversations with Modesto friends which must be construed as rumor until and unless proven otherwise.

CourtTV Live intermittent reports:

Ron "charmed" the jury. He asked Scott about his "fishy" story and if he was having an affair. Said Scott just answered single word No and walked away. Ron said he went fishing on 12/24 about 12:30, said in all the many times he asked Scott to go fishing he went only once and forgot to take his fishing rod home and never came and got it back from Ron. (so is this why Scott bought new rods?

Brent Rocha testified, Scott told Brent to do the TV interviews with Sharon, he wouldn't do them. At the 1/31 vigil, Brent got a call from Scott and he said if people are looking for me (Scott), I'm down here with my friends.

Brent testified that even he and his wife wondered how Scott and Laci got all the nice things in their home on $66,000 a year while he and his wife were scraping by.

Well, the P's are back at it again, ridiculing Ron for going fishing on Xmas Eve. Never mind that he stopped for a short time after work (he only worked a half day), close to home.

I am so repelled by these folks I can almost vomit.

I don't remember Ron making the statement "who goes fishing on Christmas Eve?" I do recall him saying during a TV interview, when the family still supported Scott, that it was not necessarily suspicious to go fishing on Christmas Eve, that he had gone himself that day... and he said something like "God forbid something should happen or I'd be suspected"

Leep, as usual, is full of crapola.

All very interesting Psyche and suppose we will have to wait and see how all this will play out.

Glad to hear Dottie Mae is getting closer to finishing her renovation, that can be so painstaking, being she does try to read here I want to add my hello to her and hope to see her return soon.

As far as how the events of this trial are unfolding, I am trying to sort out at this time of what is hear say testimony or truth. I understand Ron was asking Scott right away to fess up if he was having an affair. It is so hard for me to believe any husband who cared the least bit, would not come forward with this information after realizing she really had disappeared. I think everyone was thinking there was foul play and if Scott was truly innocent I think even the cad he is, he would have come forth with this information, knowing Amber would need to be questioned, wanting to find his wife and child to be, there is just no way any husband who wanted their wife found would not have revealed this information to LE, they would have been ashamed, and embarrassed, but have done the right thing, on the other hand, if you already knew what had happen to your wife, you would have kept your mouth shut.

Still don't know if it is hearsay or what, but I heard that when Brent was on the stand the DA asked him twice if he recalled Scott saying he was going to the warehouse to get some duct tape, I still have a feeling that the tape found on Laci or Conner will prove to have been from the same mill or run as some they can produce that Scott had, I recall seeing him carrying some when they were putting up posters of Laci.
