Marks of Deception
- Not accepting Scripture either in part or whole
- Won't completely accept conclusive statements verified by proper scriptural evidence.
- Do not accept standard methods of interpretation
- Exalt their own spiritual gifts and discernment better than others
- Consider themselves very sprititual with knowledge privy only to them and God.
- Do not submit to anyone except those who agree with them-
- claim accountability only to God, not His Body
- The insights they get from "god" are as important and many times more significant than scripture.
- Have special revelations or understanding of scripture which no one has seen before.
- May focus on a unique interpretation of one word or verse and build on that to overturn valid exegesis.
- Will take verses out of context, dismantle a major truth by a unique intrepretation of a word or phrase.
