Switzerland goalkeeper Jörg Stiel was selected Carlsberg Man of the Match for his inspired performance against Croatia in the opening game of UEFA EURO 2004 ™ Group B.

Acrobatic save
The VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach keeper made a stunning save in the 39th minute as Josip Šimunic appeared completely unmarked in the Swiss penalty area and then got to his feet quickly to force Ivica Olic to head the rebound against the bar.

Vogel sent off
Switzerland were reduced to ten men five minutes into the second half as Johann Vogel was sent off, but Stiel was equal to everything Croatia threw at him. His most dramatic second-half save, in fact, came after he had misjudged a long ball from the halfway line.
