A devastating display of forward running earned England's Wayne Rooney the Carlsberg Man of the Match in his side's 3-0 victory against Switzerland in UEFA EURO 2004™ Group B.

Fine goal
The Everton FC forward followed up his impressive performance in Sunday's defeat by France with another fine display, and was instrumental in his side's success. Rooney headed England in front in the 23rd minute, finishing off a fluent move from close range to become the youngest-ever scorer in the UEFA European Championship finals.

Powerful strike
Rooney made it two 15 minutes from time, unleashing a powerful shot that hit the right-hand post and cannoned into the net of the head of Swiss goalkeeper Jörg Stiel.
