Hadhrat Maulana Zia ur Rahmaan Farooqi Shaheed (Rahimahullah); A Caller to the Unity of the Ummah

Scholar of Islamic History, Shaheed ul Islaam ... men like Hadhrat Maulana
Zia ur Rahmaan Farooqi (رحمه الله) are not born everyday. People like him are
special gifts from the Lord. Maulana belonged to a select group of slaves of
Allah who become guiding lights to thousands due to their high character, purity
of faith, farsightedness and boldness in speaking the truth. Maulana showed
thousands of people to the path towards Jannah and in the end was himself crowned with
martyrdom in the way of this holy mission.
Maulana's contributions towards the defence of the religion, establishment of
peace, ending sectarianism and unity among the Muslims, defence of the Islamic ideology
of the country and defence of the honour of the Sahaabah and the Ahl ul Bayt of
Rasoolullah (رضى الله عنهم) have become a golden part of the history.
Allah Ta'ala had bestowed numerous Maulana with numerous excellent qualities, he
was a spell-binding orator, a lofty intellectual, an distinguished writer a
pious slave of Allah and a brandished sword against Kufr and Shirk.
Maulana was a paragon of Zuhd and Taqwa, sacrifice, courage and valour. He spoke
the truth without fear and showed unwavering determination against all odds.
He was known for his love for the sake of Allah for his fellow Muslims,
forbearance towards his juniors, his refined sense of humour, his
quick-wittedness and his noble manners.
He was a true lover of the Messenger of Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم), and a
fearless defender of the honour of the Sahaabah (رضى الله عنهم). He was a
diciple of Hadhrat Maulana Khwaja Khan Muhammad Sahib (مد ظله العالى).
His father Maulana Muhammad Ali Janbaz (رحمه الله) was a Mujahid in the freedom
struggle against the British. He was a distinguished scholar of the deen and a
leader of the Majlis Ahraar ul Islaam. Thus Maulana Zia ur Rahmaan was raised in a pure Deeni and Ahraari environment.
After memorising the Noble Quraan, Maulana obtained early religious knowledge
from such reputed centers of Islamic knowledge like Jaami'ah Rasheediyah Sahiwal,
Dar ul Uloom Kabirwalla and Bab ul Uloom Kehrorpaka. He did his Dawrah of
Hadeeth from the prestigious Jaami'ah Khayr ul Madaris Multan and recieved his
sanad. Later he also did B.A from the Punjab University and passed with a high
grade.
Maulana had become well-known for his writing and oratory while he was still a
student. He had mastery in both of these arts.While he was still a student, he
authored a beautiful book on the Noble Seerah of Muhammad (صلى الله عليه وسلم)
titled "Rahber o Rahnuma" [1] which was hailed in the religious and literary circles. He also used to give lengthy lectures in religious gatherings in which every one of his contentions would be laden with proofs from the
Quraan, Sunnah and Fiqh. Many eminent Ulama, Professors and Orators used to wonder at his power of inference, knowledge of Islamic History, mastery every
topic he spoke on and uninterrupted flow of speech.
After completing his education Maulana joined the Jamiat Ulama i Islam and faced
all trials in this way in a soldierly manner.
The usual topics of his speeches used to be the Noble Seerah of the Messenger of
Allah (صلى الله عليه وسلم), the greatness of the Sahaabah (رضى الله عنهم),
Tawheed of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala, importance of following the Sunnah, the
contributions of the Righteous Ulama and refutation of Shirk and Bidah.
Maulana Zia ur Rahmaan first became acquainted with Shaheed Tahaffuz Namoos i Sahaabah
[2] Hadhrat Maulana Haq Nawaz Jhangvi (رحمه الله)
at a gathering where both of them were speakers. Soon a deep deep
spiritual bond formed between the two Ulama. Maulana Zia ur Rahmaan was deeply
impressed with Maulana Jhangvi's courage and valour, sincerity and love of the
Sahaabah. Soon he joined Maulana Jhangvi's mission and his days were spent
travelling from city to city, from town to town and from village to village
spreading the message of the greatness of the Companions of the Messenger of
Allah and defending their honour.
After the cruel murder of Hadhrat Maulana Haq Nawaz Jhangvi Shaheed
(نور الله مرقده), it was Maulana Zia ur Rahmaan
Farooqi who once again united and organized the defenders of the Sahaabah to
combat the baatil of rafdh. For him too there were jail sentences, handcuffs,
chains, difficulties and trials. Assassination attempts, bomb blasts, firings
and murders of his comrades could not become hurdles in his cause. Maulana kept
on fighting evil using clear proofs of the Noble Quraan and the Sunnah, keeping
his struggle within the confines of the law.
Maulana did not believe in sectarianism, party spirit, cruelty and
violence and religious strife. He called toward unity of the Ummah. That is why
he gathered Muslims from many schools of thought under the banner of the
Protection of the Honour of the Sahaabah (رضى الله عنهم).
Maulana remained steadfast in the face of great odds. His nature
was unacquainted with defeat. He was above using hurtful speech. All who met him
would be impressed with the sincerity and nobility of his manners. He would
treat his junior comrades like they were his children, he would share their
sorrows and their joys. News of the arrest or Shahaadah of his comrades would
make him grieve like a loving father.
Allah Ta`ala had bestowed Maulana with an amazing memory and
intellect.
He had dozens of books committed to memory. He would hold forth on
history in such
an
uninterrupted sequence that would amaze historians.
Maulana Zia ur Rahmaan spread the
message of the greatness of the Sahaabah all over the world. He undertook
travels to a total of 24 countries to make clear the truth of Islaam and
expose baatil. Among the countries he visited are Bangladesh, UAE, Saudi Arabia,
Germany, France, Britain and USA.
He played a central role in getting Maulana
Eethaar ul Qasmi Shaheed (رحمه الله) and Maulana 'Azam
Tariq (مد ظله) elected to the National Assembly, and
the presentation of the "Namoos i Sahaabah o Ahl i Bayt" Bill in the Parliament.
In addition he met with the former presidents Ghulam Ishaq Khan and Farooq Ahmad
Leghari, former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, governers, ministers, Ulama of all
schools of thought, judges, lawyers, journalists and traders , people from all
walks of life and made his message clear to them. He convinced Mian Manzoor
Wattoo, the Punjab Chief Minister to declare 1st Muharram as the Day of
Shahaadah of Hadhrat Umar (رضى الله تعالى عنه). The
recommendations of the Abdus Sattaar Niazi Committee and the unanimously
approved "code of conduct" of the Milli Yakjehti Council [3]
were some of his achievements.
Maulana's writings are like beautiful pearls strung together. He
wrote more than fifty books including "Rahbar o Rahnuma (صلى الله عليه وسلم)",
"Constitutional Status of the Sahaabah in Islaam", "Khilafat o Hukoomat"
[4] and "Tareekhi Dastawez" [5].
He wrote twenty six books in a one-year period in jail. The book he
wrote in his last jail term "Phir Wohi Qayd i Qafas" [6]
is a veritable collection of knowledge and literature and is a good example of
Maulana's writing style.
Maulana always preferred imprisonment to trading on his principles
or giving up in the face of odds. At last his journey of struggles and sacrifice
came to an end and Maulana departed from this world
in a glorious manner. On 18th January 1997 Maulana traveled from the jail
to the Sessions Court Lahore for a hearing. The enemies of Allah lying in wait
killed him in a motorcycle bomb attack as he stepped out of the police van on
the premises of theLahore sessions court. Thus this
great hero of Islaam gained Shahaadah
in the state of fasting in the holy month Ramadhaan.

Musical Gathering in Kabul Rocked by Bomb Explosion
KABUL (Islaam): Four people were killed and 40 others were seriously injured when a bomb exploded in a musical gathering at a wedding ceremony in the District of Pughman. Some unknown attackers threw hand grenades into the gathering at about 12am midnight. Two official singers and two guests were among the dead and 40 others were injured. The authorities have banned official singers from attending any similar local gatherings after this attack. In the District of Shakarda, the official singers and actors were beaten by government gunmen who caught them voilating the ban.

Allied Forces Suffer Heavy Losses in Khost
Khost (NNI): In Afghanistan at least 16 US commandos were killed and several others injured in a rocket attack at Bagh Saroo airport in Khost province.
Reports reaching here from across the border say that some unknown people had fired five missiles at the Bagh Saroo airport on Thursday night as a result 16 US commandos were killed and several others injured.
The allied forces immediately after the missile attack carried out a mopping up operation with the help of fighter planes, but failed to arrest any suspect.
Meanwhile, a convoy of 500 US troops have reached Khost from Kabul. Reports revealed that the attack created panic among the US troops .
In another incident, the German army troops raided a house in Paktia province and the owner of the house was injured in exchange of firing.

MIRANSHAH, Oct 16 (NNI+Islaam): The Mujahideen continued harassment of US-led allied troops in Khost. Rockets were fired at the old airport, targeting US interests. In another incident some militants killed 9 troops of the US-led allied force patrol near Shahi Kot.
"Although the US-led allied forces are trying to hide the number of causalities in two attacks however nine troops of the allies were killed alone in the attack of Shahi Kot," NNI correspondent from here reports while referring intelligence reports from across the border.
The rocket attacks on the allied forces residence in old airport of Khost was a consecutive third such attack. As many as five rockets were fired and heavy losses are believed to have taken place. But the authorities are keeping the losses secret.
Some unknown attackers fired these rockets at 3 a.m. Tuesday and managed to flee from the vicinity. The allied forces immediately started search but failed in finding or arresting the attackers.
At Shahi Kot, some Mujahideen opened fire on a patrolling team of the allied troops, killing nine at the spot. The attackers withdrew from the scene after the action.
The allied forces' helicopters and patrol teams immediately cordoned the entire area "but the militants managed to escape," says an intelligence report from across the border according to NNI correspondent.
Khost(Islaam + NNI): Badshah Khan's men took off with IG Khost's official Jeep. Reportedly a Badshah Khan supporter Raqeeb managed to flee with the IG police's official jeep. Raqeeb got shot in his arm. However he managed to escape with the vehicle.
Padshah Khan Zadran, a rebel of the Karzai government, has been gathering a good number of troops around him in in Khost. Reportedly the troops belong to Governor Abdul Hakeem have been joining his forces.

Peshawar: Heavy mandate of MMA clearly indicates that people want a free and independant Pakistan.
This was stated by Amir JUI and elected MNA from NA-24 and NA-25, Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman, while introducing the newly elected members of the NWFP National Assembly at big public gatheringD at the Dar-ul-Uloom Sarhad on Monday.
He added people of Pakistan have expressed dissatisfaction over foreign policy by giving a heavy mandate to MMA, the govt. and foriegn nations should respect the people's wishes.
He further said that the MMA would make eforts to make the country's foreign policy more balanced.

Karachi (UINP): Speaking at a sermon in Masjid Bayt ul Mukkaram Ustaz Dar ul Uloom Karachi Maulana Rahat 'Ali Hashimi (حفظه الله) said that Muslims shouldn't raise their expectations too high with the recent political changes. Maulana Sahib said that Democracy is a wrong system in its Usool (basis), we cannot expect this flawed system to deliver good results.
Maulana Rahat 'Ali also asked people to pray for Maulana Mahmood Ashraf Uthmaani (مد ظله العالى) and his son who are unwell.

Qandahar (Islaam News): Mujahideen in Qandahar destroyed 2 american vehicles using remote controlled bombs, killing seven and injuring four american soldiers.
The first bomb was hidden besides the road in Ghund-i-Topchi near the Qandahar airport, when a convoy of american vehicles it was exploded destroying a vehicle, killing 3 and injuring 2 US soldiers.
The second bomb went off in the Khushab village, destroying an american APC and killing 4 american soldiers. The bomb was hidden in a cart and covered with bags of manure.

12 Mujahideen Released on Bail
Quetta (Sayfullah Sayf): 12 Mujahideen from Afghanistan who were being held in Peshawar jail have been released on bail. They were recieved by the workers of JUI Quetta led by the Amir Maulana Noor Muhammad. Then they proceeded enmasse to the JUI HQ on the Najmuddeen road where an event was held in the honour of the Mujahideen. Thousands of people had gathered to meet the Mujahideen, when they arrived the cries of "Allahu Akbar" echoed all around.

, Maulana Abdus Samad told of the brutal treatment they faced during their incarceration in Afghanistan, which brought those present to tears. He told of being tortured for seven years in different jails in Afghanistan. “We were taken to Iran. We lived on dried leaves, but for the honor of our Deen (Islam), it is nothing.” He said “Jihad is also an obligation like Salah.” He went on to say that hundreds of brothers were martyred with electric shocks and starved to death. He said that without Jihad, our faith (Yaqeen) is incomplete. Another of the released prisoner added that “Jihad is ordered by Allah and we were chosen for this duty.”
Another one of the released prisoner interviewed later on by Daily Islam said “we were tortured by the Northern Alliance to the extent that a normal human being cannot explain it in words. We were treated worse than animals. We spent months living on leaves from the trees. We used to wait for it to rain so that our clothes would be washed. He further added that their captors shot some of their companions who were also jailed to martyrdom for petty matters.

Reports indicate that Badshah Khan Zadran and the famous Commander Maulana Jalal ud Deen Haqqani (حفظه الله) have agreed on joint operations against USA and the current Afghan regime. 5 Killed in Rocket Attack on Khost Base
Khost (Islaam's Correspondant): The report from Khost says that the Mujahideen fired three missiles on the American base in the Tanai region of Khost, killing atleast 5 American soldiers and injuring about seven others. After the attack the american commandoes came into action and started a search for the Mujahideen, however they were not successful in capturing or killing a single Mujahid. The dead and injured soldiers were transferred to the Bagram airbase.
2 Martyred in Kuwait After Killing US Marine
2 Mujahideen Anas Ahmad Ibrahim al-Qandahari, 21, and Jassem Mubarak al-Hajri, 26 attacked a group of american marines conducting live fir exercises on Kuwait's Failaka island. One american was killed on the spot while the other was severely injured. Subsequently the Mujahideen attacked the american command post where they were martyred from the return fire.

12 Killed in Collision between Passenger Coach and Oil Tanker Near Uthal
Karachi(Staff reporter): Twelve persons were killed and 16 injured when a Karachi-bound passenger coach and a trailer collided near Uthal, some 550kms from Makran coastal highway, on Sunday.
Six passengers, including two personnel of the Coast Guard, died an instantly as the coach and trailer rammed into each other.

Qunduz: Northern Alliance Breaks Previous Records For Barbarity
Peshawar(Islaam's Correspondent):Northern Alliance militias have launched a reign of terror on the Pakhtun population in Qunduz, the Northern Afghan province.
Northern Alliance Commanders have issued an order for every Pakhtun family to hand over a son to be used for slave labour. The order threatens those who refuse with death.
A number of people who refused were subjected to severe torture.
A refugee from Qunduz Syed Gul Sulaiman Khel who has recently arrived in Peshawar reported that the Pakhtuns of Qunduz have complained many times to the UN officers in the city that the exceses of the NA thugs should be stopped. Karachi (staff reporter): "The vote is a testimony (shahaadah) and its correct use is our Shari'i responsibility. Before giving vote to a canidate, it should be assesed to the point of satisfaction, whether the canidate is deserving of the vote or not".
This ruling was delivered by Shaykh ul Islaam Maulana Mufti Muhammad Taqi Uthmaani during his Jumuah Khutbah at the Jami' Masjid Bayt ul Mukarram.
He said that since the vote is a testimony, it is upon the witness whether he gives a true or a false testimony. He said that we can see two classes of canidates for the election:
One: Those who wish to see Pakistan controlled by outside forces like the US.
Two: Those who wish to free Pakistan from any such control, and wish to see Pakistan, which was created in the name of Islaam, retain its Islamic identity and character
This is the type of people Muslims should vote for, so that Pakistan may be ruled by good people

The Mothers of the Mujahideen of Karachi killed in Kashmir & Afghanistan launched their campaign for handover of the bodies of the two 'Arab Shuhadaa who were killed in the alleged police "encounter" on 11th September in Defense Housing Society, Karachi.
Under the leadership of Umm Isma'eel, mothers of Shuhadaa from all over Karachi surrounded the Edhi Home in Suhraab Goth early Wednesday morning. They demanded that the bodies of the Shuhadaa should immediately be handed over to them for burial. The management of the Edhi Home called the police to deal with the situation. A huge contingent of the police arrived and proceeded to argue with the ladies in a highly disrespectful manner. Thereafter 30 of the mothers lead by Umm Isma'eel headed to the New Town Police station from there to CIA Centre Sadr from there to SSP office Bolton Market and finally to the offices of the Inspector General Sindh Syed Kamal Shah demanding that the bodies of the 'Arab Shuhadaa be handed over for proper Islamic burial.
Talking to reporters Umm Isma'eel said:
"We are all mothers of Shuhadaa, our sons were martyred in the Kashmir Jihaad, we never saw their faces, but the Kashmiri mothers fought & argued with the Indian soldiers and took our son's bodies from them and they arranged for their burial in a respectful manner. The Mujahideen martyred in the Defense housing Society are also our sons. Twenty days have passed and they have not been buried."
She said that to delay any Muslim's burial is a cause of afflictions, similarly the ones causing delays in the burial of the Mujahideen are inviting the wrath of Allah Subhanahu wa Ta'ala.
However the police refused to hand over the bodies of the Shuhadaa. Rejecting the mother's demand Deputy Inspector General (Investigation) Fayaadh Leghari said that the bodies of anyone killed in an "encounter" could only be handed over to their legal heirs, while you (ladies) have no relationship with them.

Analysts expected that Mustafa Zahir (Zahir Shah's grandson)will be the president and Abdus Sattar Seerat the Prime Minister in this new setup. However due to the expected Northern Alliance opposition, this plan has not been made public.
According to some diplomatic sources since the five-month period of the Karzai government has been witness to a rapidly escalating law and order break down to the point that warring commanders have been totally ignoring the central government's orders and have been busy settling years old scores, the authority of the Karzai government is rapidly being eroded. Sources say that seeing this weak state of government Northern Alliance warlords have openly started lobbying against the Karzai administration. A few days back the mouth-piece of the Northern Alliance Haft Rozay (weekly) Payam (Payam-i-so-called Mujahid the the Jamiyat-i-Islamis weekly newspaper) had made the Karzai an object of severe criticism, after this an important ally of the Karzai govt. Abdur Rabb-ur-Rasool Sayyaf had also severely criticized the Karzai regime
the Mujahideen have stepped up their attacks on American camps and the warring between rival warlords continues unabated, because of these reasons US has accelerated efforts for a regime change in Afghanistan. According to Afghani sources US agents are going around having secret meetings with a select group of warlords and tribal leaders, building support for the new regime. The americans wish to reduce Northern Alliance's influence in Afghanistan, they hope to gain the support of Pakhtun Commanders and tribal leaders for the new regime.
Speaking on the condition of anonymyity a close aide of the former King Zahir Shah revealed to the South Asian Dispatch Agency that the americans see the warlords as potential enemies. He said that the americans have now realized their failure to secure popular support for the Karzai govt. and there is a fear that full-fledged civil war will break out. He revealed that the american plans for the new regime include Mustafa Zahir as the President, Zahir Shah's supporter Abdus Sattar Seerat (ethnic Uzbek) as Prime Minister and Karzai as the Foreign Minister.

7 Mujahideen belong to Karachi and the rest to Interior Sindh
Peshawar (SADA): Afghan authorities have handed over 22 Mujahideen to the Pakistani government. These Mujahideen were captured during the Afghan Jihaad, 7 years ago. Their relatives believed them to have been martyred. The Mujahideen were first incarcerated in Panjsher and then near the Iran Border from where they were shifted to an Iranian prison, some time back they were handed back to the current Afghani regime. A few days ago the Mujahideen were handed over to the Pakistani govt. and brought to Karachi. According to sources 7 of the Mujahideen belong to Karachi and the rest belong to Interior Sindh. Right now they are under custody of the local police and will insha Allah be released in a week following interrogation.

Occupied Kashmir: Indians Fire On Bus Slaughtering 9 Muslim Civilians
10 Civilians injured , the Indian Soldiers wished to force them to vote in the "elections".
Islamabad(Monitoring Desk):Near Jammu The indian Army fired on a public bus killing 9 and injuring 10 Mulims.
The Indian soldiers ordered the passengers to disembark and vote in the so-called elections, upon their refusal the Indian soldiers opened fire killing 7 passengers in cold blood. The soldiers also threw a hand grenade on the bus.
Two rickshaw drivers who attempted to the aid the injured were martyred by the soldiers.

However no arrests were reported. According to sources the police has collected a lot of information on the activities of Heelo Ram, Hari Lal, Ram Chander, Ram Das and other RAW agents in Sindh and their contacts among the leaders of the Sindhi Hindu community. The terrorist Bajal Ramji alleges that he took orders from Ram Chander.
In another report the captured female agent Chamaili had taken a guilty plea & given information regarding RAW agent Qadhafi's planned terrorist attack in early september, however the police did not act on the given nformation and Qadhafi carried out 2 bomb blasts in Karachi the first in Araam Bagh and the second two minutes later in the Afghan Basti, killing a total of 19 people. Later Qadhafi was arrested using Chamaili's information. Within two hours of interrogation Qadhafi confessed that he was a resident of Jhelum and had gone to jail in connection with the Korangi murder where he met Ram Chander who subverted him to work for RAW. He said that Bajal taught him black magic.
Since then Bajal Ramji & Qadhafi were removed from prison, their current whereabouts are not known

The threats have caused great tension in the Brelvi areas of Karachi between Brelvis and their former allies, the MQM . In an interview with NNI, Abbas Qadri verified that he had recieved threats. In a reference to the MQM he said that we will end the "protection money" politics from the city, those who are threatning us to "sit down (i.e withdraw from elections) or lie down (i.e die)" and that our bodies will be found in gunny bags should know that we are not afraid of their threats we will answer a stone with a brick.

Lahore High court rejects Punjab Governament's appeal in a Full-bench session
Lahore(special correspondant):Full-Bench session of the Lahore High Court led by Mr. M. Javed Butt upheld the election tribunal's decision to let Maulana 'Azam Tariq canidature for NA.89 Jhang and rejected the governament's appeal against it. In the decision the court specified that under the constitution they do not have powers to reject Maulana 'Azam Tariq's papers, since he meets all the governaments requirements.
