Ruud van Nistelrooij took his UEFA EURO 2004™ goal tally to four by scoring twice in the Netherlands' emphatic 3-0 win against Latvia, and earned the Carlsberg Man of the Match award to go with a quarter-final place.

Early goals
The Manchester United FC striker coolly slotted home a 27th minute penalty then headed in from close range eight minutes later to put the game beyond Latvia.

Standing ovation
He was unlucky not to secure his hat-trick after causing the Latvian defence problems all match with a masterful display and came off 20 minutes from time to a standing ovation.
