Bunny Towel Ring
Bunny Towel Ring

Materials

Main color (A): white, gray, tan or other “bunny color” worsted weight yarn

Small amount of pink for ears

Small amount of pastel color for bow

Small amount of flower colors

Small amount of black for facial features

Crochet hook size H (G if you crochet loosely)

Yarn needle

3” brass ring

Strong magnet (like a pot magnet available in hardware stores)

OR a 1” lucite ring to hang on either fridge (or stove) or on a hook.

Small amount of fiberfill

Kitchen towel in a pastel color for bunny’s “dress”

To work sc dec: Insert hook in first indicated st and pull up a loop, insert

hook in the next indicated st and pull up a loop, yo and pull through all 3

remaining loops on hook.

Back of head

With color A, ch 11

Row 1: Sc in the 2nd ch from hook and in each remaining ch across, ch 1;

turn. (10 sc)

Row 2: 2 sc in the first sc, sc in each of the next 8 sc, 2 sc in the last sc, ch

1; turn. (12 sc)

Rows 3-6: Sc in each sc across, ch 1 turn. (12 sc)

Row 7: Sc dec over the first 2 sc, sc in each of the next 8 sc, sc dec over

the last 2 sc, ch 1; turn. (10 sts)

Row 8: Sc dec over the first 2 sc, sc in each of the next 6 sc, sc dec over

the last 2 sc. (8 sts)

Row 9: Sc dec over the first 2 sc, sc in each of the next 4 sc, sc dec over

the last 2 sc, ch 1; turn. (6 sts)

Row 10: Sc dec over the first 2 sc, sc in each of the next 2 sc, sc dec over

the last 2 sc, ch 1; turn. (4 sts)

First Ear

Row 1: 2 sc in first sc (leave remaiing sts unworked), ch 1; turn. (2 sc)

Row 2: Work 2 sc in each sc, ch 1; turn (4 sc)

Rows 3-8: Sc in each sc across, ch 1; turn. (4 sc)

Row 9: Sc dec over the first 2 sc, sc dec over the last 2 sc, ch 1; turn. (2

sts)

Row 10: Sc dec over 2 sts. Fasten off.

Second Ear

Row 1: Skip next 2 sc on the head, attach color A with a sc in the next st,

work 1 more sc in the same st, ch 1; turn. (2 sc)

Rows 2-10: Work as rows 2-10 of first ear.

Front of head

Work as for back of head, except work both ears in pink.Fasten off. Add

facial features.

Leaving the bottom foundation ch’s open, join front of head to back of head

with sc’s in color A all around head and ears. Fasten off, leaving a long tail

for sewing. Insert brass ring halfway into head; stuff head with fiberfill. If

using magnet, insert in the back of the head behind fiberfill. Whip stitch

bottom opening closed, leaving part of the brass ring exposed. with color A

work sc’s around the exposed part of the brass ring until generously

covered. This is where the towel will hang. If you’re using the lucite ring to

hang your towel ring to a hook, sew the bottom of the lucite ring to the

back of the head.

Arms

With color A, ch 36

Row 1: Sc in the 2nd ch from hook and in each of the next 14 ch’s, sl st in

each of the next 5 ch’s, sc in each of the last 15 ch’s, ch 1; turn.

Rows 2-6: Sc in each ot the first 15 sc, sl st in each of the next 5 sl st’s, sc

in each of the last 15 sc’s, ch 1; turn.

Row 7: Fold the arms in half lengthwise; join row 6 to the foundation ch by

working sc’s through both layers of each of the first 15 sts, ch 3, skip next 5

sl st’s and next 5 foundation ch’s, sc through both layers of each the last 15

sts. Fasten off. Sew each end of the arms to the opposite sides of the

bottom of the bunny’s head.

Bow

With bow color, ch 20; join with a sl st to the first ch to form ring, being

careful not to twist ch.

Round 1: Ch 1, sc in the same st as joining and in each ch around; join with

a sl st to the first sc.

Rounds 2-3: Ch 1, sc in the same st as joining and in each sc around; join

with a sl st to the first sc. Fasten off after round 3.

Flatten bow so that 10 sts are lying on the other 10 sts. Wrap bow color

tightly several around center and tie. Sew bow to bottom of bunny head.

Flower

With flower center color, ch 4; join with a sl st to form ring.

Round 1: Ch 1, work 6 sc in the ring; join with a sl st to the first sc. Fasten

off.

Round 2: Join flower petal color with a sl st in any sc, ch 3, sl st in the

same sc, (sl st, ch 3, sl st) in each remaining sc around; join with a sl st to

the first sl st. Fasten off.

Leaves

With green, ch 4; join with a sl st to form ring

Round 1: Ch 1, sc in the ring, (ch 4, sl st in the 2nd ch from hook, sc in

each of the next 2 ch’s, sc in the ring) 3 times; join with a sl st to the first

sc. Fasten off.

Sew leaves to the bottom of the flower. Sew flower to the ch 2 on the arms.

Insert towel in ring, with the arms in front.
