The self-proclaimed most manipulative mind in World Wrestling Entertainment has coerced control over the most destructive force on SmackDown!

The Undertaker bowed to the pressure Thursday night, aligning with Paul Heyman and the Dudley Boys in a desperate attempt to prevent harm from coming to longtime friend and advisor Paul Bearer. With the Deadman kneeling before him, Heyman raised the urn — the symbol of his newfound power — welcoming this dark turn of events. Be sure to watch next week to learn, with the Undertaker, what Heyman has planned next.

Also, SmackDown! General Manager Kurt Angle’s specially devised Triple Play Challenge was supposed to be “the beginning of the end of John Cena.” Instead, the United States Champion again made a mockery of Angle by not only outlasting a trio of opponents in five-minute matches, but unofficially winning a fourth bout in overtime. Challengers Booker T, Rob Van Dam and Rene Dupree all failed to defeat Cena in the stipulated time, missing their chance to earn a title shot at The Great American Bash. But an increasingly frustrated Angle will send all three challengers to Norfolk, Va., for the pay-per-view event, anyway. It will be a Fatal Fourway for the U.S. Championship.

Fresh from the comfort of an exclusive hotel salon, John “Bradshaw” Layfield found himself in for a rough ride, courtesy of WWE Champion Eddie Guerrero. Opting for a decadent meal over a match in Uniondale, N.Y., JBL just wanted a limousine ride back to the city. Instead Guerrero, posing as the driver, took Layfield for a spin … ending in a crash. On this night, the champ got the best of a tossed and battered JBL, who ended up covered in salad and dressing.
