Mitral valve prolapse. Mitral valve prolapse is the most common form of mitral insufficiency seen locally. This disease process is known by several names, including Click-Murmur Syndrome, Barlow's Disease, and Floppy Mitral Valve disease. This specimen demonstrates a severe form of the disease  with profound hooding of all mitral valve leaflets. This appearance has been aptly described as "hemorrhoidal."
