What Is L-A's Story?
by Jim Basquil What happens if the Lakers call Kobe Bryant's bluff? Will he really leave for the Clippers? It appears Jerry Buss doesn't want to find out as the Lakers will look very different than we are all accustomed. If Kobe and Shaq's ego's weren't as big as their on-court abilities.

Suns Have The Foundation
by Jason Fleming The Phoenix Suns made the earliest and boldest move of this year's free agency period when they locked up Dallas Mavericks' point guard Steve Nash for at least the next five years. Sure, it cost them $65 million and about two-thirds of the cap space they have this summer, but they now have a very solid foundation that could have Suns' fans beaming in a short time.

Young and Restless
by Joshua Cole The first major youth movement of the modern NBA belonged to the Chicago Bulls. Unfortunately for that franchise, the so-called Baby Bulls didn't exactly take the NBA by storm. Other teams caught on to the idea of youth movement as cost-cutting measure, ironically, quite a different plan than the Bulls.' Finally, four young teams have taken the Baby Bull concept and made winners of it.

Houston/Orlando: The Blockbuster Trade
by Dan Maymin As we all already have heard, the Houston Rockets and the Orlando Magic recently had one of the biggest Blockbuster trades of the summer, trading Tracy McGrady, Juwan Howard, and Tyronn Lue for Steve Francis, Cuttino Mobley, and Kelvin Cato. Let's take a closer look at this particular trade (the basic logistics, a simple analytical response, who's happiest, and the resurrection of a couple of players).

Shaq Ain't Worth The Greenbacks

No One To Blame

Hudson Hoops
by Jim Basquil This week Hudson Hoops explores the directions of the Nets and Knicks at the start of free agency. New Jersey gets good news when Rodney Rogers opts out of his contract. The savings are expected to go to free agent Kenyon Martin. Jason Kidd went under the knife in what was deemed a success, though it could keep him sidelined for the start of next season. New York has eyes on Jamal Crawford, though Chicago can match any offer and it's a waiting game with Rasheed Wallace.

True NBA Minor League System Needed
by Colin Howard There's always been one key thing missing from the NBA, and that's a minor league system. It's purpose is to develop that player as well as prepare prospects for the life of a professional athlete. NBA players are just thrown into the fire right off the bat, and that's not only detrimental to the players but it's detrimental to the league.

Ringing Out The Old Year
by Joshua Cole Like New Year's resolutions, NBA signing rumors have a tendency to get lost in the shuffle once the new year gets underway. But the ever-busy NBA offseason does offer plenty of opportunities to clear out the baggage of past seasons, and, perhaps, even to set teams on the right track. Unfortunately, not all free agent signing, trading and waiving takes teams in the right direction...
