The Critically Appraised Papers (CAPs) we're posting here are derived from the Evidence Based Medicine (EBM) User Guides from McMaster. (You may also see these listed as Critically Appraised Topics, or CATs.)

Learn more about Evidence Based Medicine on our EBM Links page, or link directly to JFP Journal Club Table of Contents for EBM reviews.

Our CAPs have the same areas as McMaster, and many descriptions and explanations are linked directly to their site. Our form is the same, but we're providing CAPs online here for you to read and search through.

When viewing any of the CAPs and have difficulties understanding their form, just click on the questions and an explanation will be presented in the second window.

If you would like to submit a new CAP just click on Submit a new CAP in the desired area and follow the directions. If there is an article that you would like to see reviewed here, please send us an e-mail with the citation. We would prefer to review studies that our readers would find most useful!

  • This area is just getting started, and we are mainly presenting examples, for now. We're sorting through some of the best CATs available, but making sure to get only the must useful, especially for the community hospitals we're supporting with this web page.
