StyleCountry rock
Original line-up: Jeff Williams (vocals, guitar), Kay-Louise Patterson (keyboards, vocals), Martin Lewis (guitar), Jack Coleman (bass), James Hurst (drums)

History
This Melbourne band's clean, laid-back country style was heard to good advantage on the EP Long Past Dawn (July 1992) and the album Never Comin' Down (June 1993). Ex-Triffids David McComb, Robert McComb and Graham Lee, plus Charlie Owen and Chris Wilson, augmented the band in the studio for Never Comin' Down. Acuff's Rose derived its name from legendary US country singer Roy Acuff (`Great Speckled Bird'). Although Acuff did not sing about a rose, he formed a music publishing partnership with songwriter Fred Rose. In 1995, Bruce Kane (ex-Honeymoon in Green, Dave Last's Boy Kings) joined on drums. The second Acuff's Rose album, Son of the North Wind, came out in November 1995. That time, Spencer P. Jones and Coral Snakes' Robin Casinader featured as guest players.
