History
The Aliens were one of the first `uniformed' new wave bands of the late 1970s (black clothes and skinny, white ties). Originally from Adelaide and known as Riff Raff, The Aliens' sound embraced guitar-oriented pop rock with the emphasis on 1960s melodies. The band relocated to Melbourne in late 1978.

Graham Lewis and Kevin Patricks had left by the time Mushroom issued the singles `Confrontation'/`Boys in Black' (#36 in December 1979), `Follow That Girl'/`The Hiding of Dr Jekyll' (February 1980) and the album Translator. Rob Grosser played drums on the records. Webster left in June 1980, to be replaced by Randy Bulpin (ex-Mondo Rock, Hot Club) in September. A new line-up of Stapleton, Greg Trennery (bass), Malcolm Fogg (drums) and Pierre Baroni (guitar, synthesiser, ex-Power by Beat) issued the independent single `I Don't Care'/`Over My Head' in February 1981, after which the band broke up. Stapleton went on to play with GANGgajang, Absent Friends and The Dukes; Baroni was in Field of Knives and The Pony before working in the art department at Mushroom Records for many years.
