Pay Per Click Listings

UKSprite began operating as a pay per click (or pay for position) search engine in 2000 - and we continue to operate this method of site registration. For a small deposit, website owners may list an unlimited number URL's in the search engine. This deposit becomes part of the site owners account balance. Each URL is known as a listing and each listing can be individually configured. The site owner supplies their own Title, Description and Destination URL for each listing along with a set of relevant keywords.

The site owner then decides how much they are willing to pay everytime one of their keywords is clicked during a search query. This value can be as low as 1 penny or £0.01 British Pounds.

If the site owner's keyword is clicked, the amount they bid is deducted from their account balance. Using this method the site owner is only paying for the visit to their site when the keyword is clicked. The higher the bid value of each keyword, the higher the listing appears in relevant search queries.

PermaLinks Paid Inclusion

UKSprite has recently introduced a new method of paid inclusion, called PermaLinks. PermaLinks allow site owners to list their websites in UKSprite Search without the need to worry about bid values and listings being removed from the search database due to depleted account funds.

PermaLinks cost slightly more than regular pay per click listings, however the site owner is freed from monitoring and changing bid values and never needs to worry about the balance of their account. Clicks on PermaLink listings cost nothing to the site owner. You could receive 10 or 10,000 clicks a day - you never need to pay any more than the original cost to purchase your PermaLinks.

PermaLink listings are placed in the search engine in a similar way to pay per click listings. The site owner chooses their own Title, Descriptions and Keywords with the addition of being able to specify a 'friendly' display URL and the association of a banner image with each listing for added visibility to the searcher.

A site owner with a Site Submit account may place as many PermaLink listings as they wish. Each PermaLink is individually configured and has its own keywords. PermaLinks are given priority in UKSprite Search results.
