In Tadcaster's Monastery, O Abbess Hieu, thou didst shine with the virtues of asceticism and humility. Pray that we also may follow the example of thy great teacher, the Hierarch Aidan, and live lives of spiritual struggle that our souls may be saved.

Having learned thy faith from Ireland's Enlightener, O holy MacNis, thou didst found a shining beacon of the True Faith, the Monastery of Kells, from which was bequeathed to Christ's church a treasure of piety and wonder, which is with us to this day. Inspired by thine example, O Saint, we beseech thee to intercede with Christ our God that we may be given grace to follow thee in the way of salvation.

Seeing that many were brought to Christ by the radiant example of thy virtuous life and thy missionary labours, O holy Cynfarch, pray that we too may follow thee in the service of our Saviour, that our souls may be saved.

Saint Deiniol of Bangor, Wales 11/24 September

Dismissal Hymn (Tone 4)

By thy teaching and pious life thou didst shine forth in the age of Saints, O Hierarch Deiniol, and becoming Bangor's first bishop thou wast an instrument of God's grace, leading many to salvation. Pray, O Saint, that we may be led into the Way of Truth that our souls may be saved.

When Ireland's Enlightener returned to his native land he found thee, O holy Ailbe, preaching the Faith at Emly, where at the bidding of an Angel thou hadst built a church. O wise shepherd of souls and glorious ascetic, O friend of animals, and fellow missionary with the illustrious Patrick, pray to Christ our God that we might also become bastions of Orthodoxy and a shining example to our fellow countrymen, drawing them away from ignorance and error and into the true Faith that all our souls may be saved.

Having been instructed and blessed by saints, O holy Father Ninian, thou didst return to Northern Britain to preach Christ to thine own people. Following thine example, O Apostle of the Picts, Light of those in the darkness of paganism, True shepherd of the sheep, Teacher of the Orthodox Faith and Founder of Candida Casa, pray that we will tirelessly labour for Christ among our fellow countrymen, that our souls may be saved.

Saints Socrates and Stephen, Martyrs at Monmouth, Wales 17/30 September

Thou didst win the crown of martyrdom, O noble Socrates and Stephen, when thou, following in the footsteps of both our nation's Patron and our protomartyr, didst resist the edict of the God-hating Diocletian. Pray to God that we also may be given strength to be faithful, even unto death, that we too may inherit eternal life.

Kontakion (Tone 8)

Preserving thyself in virginity, and pleasing Christ our God with thy asceticism, O holy Mabyn, thou didst give to the faithful an example of pious and godly living. Pray that the example of our lives will also be pleasing to God, that our souls will be brought into the Way of Salvation.

Rejoice, Christians of Northumbria, for the Lord hath brought forth a holy one from your midst. He tended monasticism and learning as a precious vine, bearing abundant fruit to the glory of God. Now that the name of Saint Geoffrey is inscribed in the Book of Life, pray with us that he may intercede for us all.

Truly thou art hymned, O Hierarch Finbar, as a Father of monastics and shepherd of souls. Seeing our plight and feeling for us in our great necessity, cease not to intercede with Christ our God that He will raise up in our days pastors of thy stature to lead us into the way of Truth.

The noble Brychan, obeying God's will, bestowed on the Church a galaxy of saints to illumine our land. As in Angelsey thou didst labour for Christ, O holy Caian, cease not in thy labour of prayer that we may be granted salvation for our souls.

Light of the West, inspirer of monastics and boast of ascetics, thy radiant life was pleasing to God, O Father Barrog. Do not reject us in our pitiable state but pray, O Saint, that repenting and weeping we may be found worthy of a place in Christ's holy Kingdom.

Dismissal Hymn (Tone 8)

Taking to heart Christ's holy command, thou didst preach His Gospel to the nation of the Picts, O Father Conwall, setting us a laudable example. Pray that we may be granted strength also to witness for Christ until our last breath, that having lived only for Him, we may be made worthy to enter His Kingdom.

Amongst Anglesey's adornment of Saints, thy virtuous life shineth forth to illumine these islands, O Father Midan. We pray thee to intercede with Christ our God that His mercy, and not our weakness, will prevail that our souls may be saved.

Jealousy and spite were thine enemies, O righteous Melor, yet despite poison and mutilation thou didst not waver in the faith and wast found worthy to wear the crown of martyrdom. Pray, O holy one, that following thine example, we may withstand the assaults of the enemy and finally attain eternal salvation.

Compassionate pastor and inspired teacher of Armagh's flock, O Hierarch Dubtach, thou art a model of piety for both the pastors and the laity of Christ's holy Church. Intercede with Christ our God that we may be given grace to emulate thee in bringing others to Him that we all may be saved.

Spurred on by their impiety, God-hating barbarians sought to destroy thee, O holy Cynog, but by death thou didst gain the victory. Pray for us, that we too may triumph over evil by faithfulness unto the end, that we may be granted great mercy.

Thou didst devote thy life and ministry to missionary endeavour, O Hierarch Fiace, and art remembered as the hymnographer who honoured the great Patrick. Together with him thou didst drive out of Ireland the ignorance and error of paganism. Pray that Christ our God will raise up noble souls in our day who will restore the Orthodox Faith to the Island of Saints and advance the Kingdom of God for the salvation of souls.

At the bidding of our Father Samson thou didst leave thy native Wales to serve God in Lammeur's Monastery, O Father Maelor. Having pleased God with the sweet fragrance of monastic struggle, thou didst grace the island of Sark with thy godly repose. Pray to God for us, O blessed one, that He will spare us from sudden and unprepared death and grant salvation to our souls.
