--- i'm really behind on everything here at DA. i'm aware of this and i'm trying really hard to catch up to devwatches, thank yous, and all that. However, sending me stupid notes saying things like "hey asshole you didn't comment on my deviation I submitted 4 days ago" won't speed up the process either.
Ive been getting many notes as of lately here at DA asking questions about my art, style, etc. Many of the questions I am noted with are also questions other people seem to have, so I figured that I would share a few of the questions and answers on my journal (since I seem to always behind as far as DA is concerned I r slow
Q. Why havent you been submitting as much lately?
A. I say thank you to every single person that leaves comments on my work or notes me. Ive made a rule to not put up new work until I have all of those thank you comments finished. Yeah, it takes a while, but I think it keeps me level headed and remembering all those that take the time to comment. I never want to get to the point to where I start getting stuck up and not replying to people here (which I dont think I would get to that point in the first place). Also, I work a lot and have been trying to enjoy whats left of the summer.
Q. What tools do you use to create your pieces in?
A. I mostly use Photoshop7 & PSP7. Unfortunately I dont have a wacom yet. I plan to get one fairly soon. Other than computer generated art I paint with acrylic/oil or draw macabre figures.
Q. How do you create your pieces?
A. Sometimes I do regular photo manipulations but lately my main focus has been on airbrushing. All of my pieces are computer generated and I have not yet posted anything drawn by hand or scanned (perhaps I will shortly). For airbrushing I usually sketch a figure drawn with my mouse, fill it in with colors that I think seem to suit the piece, then add details. For photo manipulations I basically hunt for good quality photos and manipulate them with other stock or by air brushing as well.
Q. Can you help or show me techniques?
A. I really am very busy and I hardly have the time to do work of my own. But of course, I will be more than happy to help anyone who is WILLING to learn. When I say willing to learn I mean, just dont send me a piece of art and expect me to do something with it. I might suggest, point out things in the piece, or do an example, but as far as me touching the piece. NO.
Q. Your work seems very sad. Are you sad?
A. Everyone is sad at one point or time. No one can be happy 24-7, 6 days a week. I have had a fairly good life I guess. While its been hectic at times and things havent gone quite as planned, I do not complain, moan, or throw a pity party for myself. A lot of other people have a lot rougher life than I have. Im happy to have a roof over my head, a job, and the luxury to do the small things in life such as post work here on DA.
Q. What are you doing next?
A. Several things. Im working on a collab with a dear and very wonderful friend of mine Nebu; I have an icon to make for someone, a splash page to do for my bros site, and an ID to do for another friend. As far as my art is concerned, Im currently making a web site, another macabre airbrushed piece, and fixing to start art for two different series that I have in mind for the future.
Thanks for all the different questions, take care all.
--I've always loved photography. Even though I really suck at it I'm always amazed when I see really cool pictures. The two artists above ^ have some photos that I have found to be both very interesting, creative, or beautiful. If you have time go check their galleries out and give much support.
