StylePop
Original line-up: Ron Martini (vocals), Chris Langford (guitar), Les Barker (guitar; ex-Benders), Martin Fisher (keyboards; ex-Innocents, Little Heroes, Swanee), Peter Leslie (bass; ex-Little Heroes), Ian Morrison (drums)
 Album: Ransom Note (EMI, 1983).

History
Melbourne band Dear Enemy suffered the fate of having one successful single, `Computer One', and being unable to capitalise on that success, despite significant media attention. The band derived its name from popular Australian comic strip `Ginger Meggs'. Whenever Ginger received letters from his rival Eddie Coogan, they were always addressed to `Dear Enemy'.

The band signed to EMI/Capitol and recorded Ransom Note in the USA with producer Peter McIan (best known for his work with Men at Work and Mondo Rock). Ransom Note spawned three singles, `Computer One'/`Day to Day' (#16 in December 1983), `Good Life'/`On the Line' (February 1984) and `Kids on the Street'/`Talking to You' (May). Two more singles followed, `New Hero'/`Billy's Theme' (1984) and `Stay'/`Looking for Love' (1986), before Joey Amenta (ex-Taste, Redhouse, Russell Morris Band) replaced Barker. `New Hero' was the theme song to the 1984 film Street Hero starring Vince Colisimo. Jerry Leigh then replaced Amenta and Dear Enemy issued a final, independent single, `You're Right You're Right'/ `Love Flows' in December 1988 before calling it quits.
