Chinese diver Mingxia Fu has a record of four gold medal from three Olympic competitions. She first took gold in the 1992 women's platform, won both the springboard and platform competitions in Atlanta and backed up in Sydney to again win the women's springboard. Male diver Xiong Ni won medals at four consecutive Olympics beginning with silver in the men's platform in Seoul. He also took bronze in the same event in Barcelona before winning gold medals in the men's springboard events at both the Atlanta and Sydney Olympic Games.At the 2000 Olympic Games, China won all eight table tennis and badminton gold medals and in each discipline took eight of the 12 available medals. Since the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, China has won 11 out of 12 possible table tennis gold medals.China's capital city, Beijing, was awarded the right to host the 2008 Olympic Games after missing out by a single vote in 1993 on hosting the 2000 Olympic Games.
