Day Thirteen of the ATHENS 2004 Olympic Games presents: 17 Sports - 10 finals

Russia’s Andrey Moiseev was the winner in Men’s Modern Pentathlon, while in the equally demanding Triathlon New Zealand won gold and silver medal.
In Women’s Water Polo, Italy won the gold medal match in the second extra time, leaving to Greece the silver medal.
In Athletics, USA snatched five out of nine medals that were awarded in tonight’s three Finals.

Andrey Moiseev (RUS) came first in the demanding event of Men’s Modern Pentathlon. Andrejus Zadneprovskis (LTU) was second and Libor Capalini (CZE) was ranked third.
In the second and last day of Triathlon, gold and silver went to New Zealand.  Hamish Carter was first and Bevan Doherty second. Switzerland’s Sven Riederer finished third.

It was a “gold” night for USA in Athletics, with 5 medals overall. In the Men’s 200m all medals went to the USA team: Shawn Crawford won the gold medal while Bernard Williams and Justin Gatlin grabbed silver and bronze respectively.
In the Men’s Long Jump, Dwight Phillips (USA) jumped the longest distance (8m59) and John Moffit (USA) came second. The Spanish Juan Lino Martinez came third.
In the Men’s 400m Hurdles event Felix Sanchez from the Dominican Republic won gold, with Danny McFarlane from Jamaica and France’s Naman Keita winning silver and bronze medals respectively.

Italy’s Women team is new Olympic Champion in Women’s Water Polo. The Italian team beated Greece 10-9 and left it second. Bronze medal went to the USA.

In Taekwondo, Shih Hsin Chen (Taipei) won the gold medal of the Women Under 49kg category, while in the Men’s Under 58kg category Yen Mu Chu, also from Taipei, was the winner.

In Sailing, in the Mixed Open Double-handed Dinghy 49er category, gold went to Marcus Bauer and Max Groy (Germany), silver to Christoffer Sundby and Frode Bovim (Norway) and bronze to Rodion Luka and George Leonchuk (Ukraine).

Korean Ji Hyun Jung beated Roberto Monzon from Cuba in the Men's 60kg Gold Medal Match in Greco-Roman Wrestling. Winner of the 74kg category was Alexandr Dokturishivili (UZB), who beated Yli-Marko Hannuksela (FIN), and in 96kg Karam Ibrahim (EGY) beated Ramaz Nozadze (GEO).

In Diving, with an almost flawless performance, Jingjing Guo from China won the gold medal in Women's 3m Springboard competition. Minxia Wu, also from China, was second and Yulia Pakhalina from Russia third.

The Women’s Gold Medal Match in Hockey was won by Germany on a 2-1 score. The Netherlands team won silver medal and Argentina bronze.

In Football, USA defeated Brazil in extra-time to win gold medal. The Women’s final finished on a score of 2-1 with Abby Wambach scoring the winning goal.
