Resolute is located on the south coast of Cornwallis Island and is Canada's second most northerly community. The Northwest Passage passes directly in front of the community and can be walked during the winter months.

Resolute was established after the Canadian government moved Inuit families there from Pond Inlet and the northern Quebec community of Inukjuak. more...

Fuel Tanks
One 90K horizontal tank is installed in a concrete berm on the plant site. The berm has
suffered some cracking and has been repaired. Bulk fuel is nominated. Fuel is delivered via a pipeline owned by the GNWT. Environmental liability is minimal.
Capital Work
Minimal work has been done on this plant in the last ten years outside of an attempt to
utilise crude fuel from Bent Horn.
Plant Forecast
Existing capacity is adequate although one gen-set is approaching its optimal
lifespan. Plant control system is also approaching obsolescence.
Future Work
The plants overall efficiency could be dramatically improved with the installation of new fuel-efficient engines. Potential fuel savings are in the range of $125,000.00 per annum. However load conditions do not warrant any additional capacity.
