Summer School on Survey Sampling Theory, Methodology and Practice
June 26 - July 2, 1997 in Tartu, Estonia

General information.
The idea of the Summer School came up from inside of the Baltic Countries. In the new conditions of democracy and market economy an effectively working national statistical system became especially important for these countries. To develop such a system it was, and still is, necessary for statistical agencies to recruite more people with special statistical education and also to teach their own staff on modern statistical methods of data collection and analysis – the area of survey sampling theory and methodology. Universities play a crucial role in this task – they educate young specialists for national
statistical systems.
