Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger announced Monday his opposition to three measures on the November ballot including Proposition 67, which would raise $500 million a year for hospitals, clinics and emergency medical services through a surcharge on telephone service.

Now in its 22nd season, the San Francisco Jazz Festival is growing stronger than ever. Considered by many to be the best jazz festival in the world, this year's events begin Thursday with a free concert in Union Square and continue with 36 concerts over 24 days at a variety of venues throughout the Bay Area.
