In the summer, there is a programme of visits, some of which are to sites not open to the public.

The society is a registered charity and makes occasional grants to support local historical enterprises. We produce a newsletter twice a year, and provide an outlet for members who wish to publish articles of local interest.

Anglo Saxon PotThe society does not actively excavate, but supports and encourages local professional endeavours in this field.
