Size: Approx 18" long.
Materials:
Worsted-weight yarn Dawn Sayelle (100% Acrilan Acrylic; 3-1/2 oz skein)
by Caron: 1 skein each of Candy Pink #323 (A), Lavender #377 (B), Lilac #335
(C), and Lemon #331 (D); small amount each of tan and dark pink; Size 8 (5)
knitting needles or size needed to obtain Gauge. One stitch holder; one
12" diameter white Battenburg doily; White satin ribbon, 1/4" wide; 1/2
yard Styrofoam¨ brand plastic foam ball; 3"-diameter Multi-color star buttons,
shank-type 1/2"; 21 Gold tinsel chenille stem; one bag Polyester fiberfill;
One snap set; White craft glue; Yarn needle.
Gauge: 16 sts and 20 rows = 4" in Lace pat. To save time, take time to check your gauge.
Special Abbreviation
Ssk: Slip next 2 sts knitwise to right-hand needle, insert left-hand
needle from left to right in these 2 sts and k2tog.
Pattern Stitch: Lace Pat (multiple of 9 sts +
4; a 4-row rep)
Rows 1 and 3: (WS) Purl.
Row 2: K3, *yo, k 2, ssk, k2tog, k2, yo, k1; rep from * across, ending
last rep with k2.
Row 4: K2; * yo, k 2, ssk, k 2tog, k2, yo, k1; rep from * across, ending
last rep with k3.
Rep Rows 1Ð4 for Lace Pat St.
Blond Angel Doll
Body & Head
Beg at lower edge of Body, with A, cast on 45 sts. Beg with a RS row, work in
St st (knit RS rows, purl WS rows) for 5", ending after a WS row.
Next Row: (RS) [K2tog] across, ending with k1--23 sts rem.
Rib Row 1: (WS) K1; *p1, k1; rep from * across.
Rib Row 2: P1; *k1, p1; rep from * across.
Rep Rows 1 and 2 once more to make neck.
Head
Row 1: (WS) Work across in St st, inc 15 sts evenly spaced--37 sts. Cont
in St st for 3", ending after a WS row.
Dec Row 1: K1, [k2tog] across--19 sts.
Dec Row 2: P1, [p2tog] across--10 sts.
Dec Row 3: [K2tog] across--5 sts. Pass 4 sts over first st and fasten
off.
Leg (Make Two)
With A, cast on 21 sts. Beg with a RS row, work in St st for 6-1/2", ending
after a WS row.
Dec Row 1: (RS) K1, [k2tog] across--11 sts rem.
Dec Row 2: P 1, [p2tog] across--6 sts rem. Pass 5 sts over first st
and fasten off.
Arm (Make Two)
With A, cast on 15 sts. Beg with a RS row, work in St st for 5", ending after
a WS row.
Dec Row 1: (RS) K1, [k2tog] across--8 sts rem.
Dec Row 2: [P2tog] across--4 sts rem. Pass 3 sts over first st and fasten
off.
Assembly
Body: Fold body/head piece in half lengthwise with RS out. Sew long sides
tog for back seam. Insert foam ball into head. Stuff Body and neck with fiberfill.
Legs and Arms: Sew each piece in half lengthwise with RS out. Sew side
seams and bottom, gathered ends, leaving cast on ends open. Stuff with fiberfill.
Position body with seam at center back. Sew open ends of legs to front and back
layers of body bottom, leaving a 1" crotch area between the two. Sew crotch
seam. Sew open end of each arm to side on the 3rd row below neck ribbing.
Dress
Back
Beg at bottom edge of skirt, with C, cast on 67 sts. Work Rows 1 and 2 of Lace
Pat St. Change to A and cont Lace Pat until piece measures 7" from beg, ending
after a WS row.
Dec Row 1: (RS) K1, [k2tog] across--34 sts rem.
Dec Row 2: Purl across, evenly dec 10 sts in row--24 sts rem.
Right Bodice Back: Cont in St st, work across 12 sts; place rem sts on holder. Working this side only, cont in St st until Bodice Back measures 2-1/2" from top of skirt. Bind off all sts.
Left Bodice Back: Return 12 sts from holder to needle. Beg with a RS row, work in St st until Left Bodice Back measures same as Right Bodice Back. Bind off all sts.
Front
Work as for Back up through Dec Row 2--24 sts rem.
Bodice: Beg with a RS row, work in St st until Bodice measures 2" from
top of skirt, ending after a WS row.
Neck Shaping: K5, turn, placing rem sts on needle.
Next Row: P2tog, p3--4 sts rem. Cont in St st on this side only until
this side measures same as Back to shoulder. Bind off all sts. Return sts from
holder to needle. Bind off 14 sts, k across 5 rem sts.
Next Row: P3, p2tog--4 sts rem. Complete as for other side. Sew Dress
Front To Back at shoulders. Sew side seams.
Collar
With C, cast on 67 sts. Work Lace Pat Rows 1 and 2 with C. Change to B and work
Lace Pat for 5 more rows, ending after a WS row.
Next Row: Knit across, evenly dec 19 sts across--48 sts rem. Bind off
all sts. With RS out, whipstitch collar around dress neckline.
Finishing
Face: Using tan yarn, embroider two half circles for lowered eyes with
a stem stitch. Using dark pink yarn, stem-stitch a smile and straight-stitch
the nose with one horizontal stitch.
Long Curl: (Make 14) With D, cast on 26 sts. (k1, yo, k1) in each st.
Bind off all sts.
Short Curl: (make 5) With D, cast on 12 st. (K1, yo, k1) in each st.
Bind off all sts. Dampen curls and wrap around knitting needle until dry. Sew
to head, arranging the short curls in front for bangs.
Wings: Fold white doily in half. Gather center and sew to back above
neck ribbing of doll.
Dress: Sew a star button to center of each scallop around bottom of
skirt and to center of each scallop around lower edge of collar. Sew snap set
to top of back opening. Place dress on doll and tie ribbon around waist for
a sash.
Halo: Bend 4" of chenille stem in a circle to form a loop with a stem.
Coat end of stem with glue and insert in top of head at crown.
