Size: Finished size approx 55" x 68".

Materials: Worsted-weight yarn Red Heart® Super Savert®, 452 yards per 8 oz/229g skein for solids and 348 yds per 6 oz/171g skein for ombres by Coats & Clark: 5 skeins #316 Soft White (MC), 1 skein #382 Country Blue (Col A), 2 skeins #392 Wedgewood (Col B-ombre). Crochet hook size H/8 (5mm) or size needed to obtain Gauge. Yarn needle.

Gauge: 1 motif = 9"; 3-1/2" after Rnd 4. To save time, take time to check your gauge.

Notes

  • Work in rnds, only turning motif to work from other side when indicated.
  • Join each rnd with a sl st in top of beg ch-3 or sc.

Motif (make 32)
Rnd 1: (Side A) With MC, ch 5, join with sl st to form a ring. Ch 3, work 15 dc in ring, join with a sl st in top of beg ch-3--16 dc. Fasten off MC.
Rnd 2: Join Col A in any front lp. Ch 3, working in front lps only, dc in same lp as join, work 2 dc in each front lp around, join--32 dc. Fasten off Col A. Turn piece to other side.
Rnd 3: (Side B) Join Col B in any unworked front lp from Rnd 1 (you will be working into same rnd as Rnd 2). Work as for Rnd 2--32 dc. Fasten off Col B.
Rnd 4: Join MC in any st, joining through both top lps of both Col A & B. Ch 1, working through both top lps of Col A & B, sc in each st around, join--32 sc.
Rnd 5: (Ch 3, 2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in same space as join, ch 1, sk 3 sts, 3 dc in next st, ch 1, sk 3 sts, *(3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in next st, ch 1, sk 3 sts, 3 dc in next st, ch 1; rep from * twice more, join.
Rnd 6: Sl st to ch-3 sp, (ch 3, 2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in same sp, ch 1, [sk 3 dc, 3 dc in ch-1 sp] twice, ch 1, *(3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in ch-3 sp, ch 1, [sk 3 dc, 3 dc in ch-1 sp] twice, ch 1; rep from * twice more, join.
Rnd 7: Working in front lps only, join Col B in center ch of any corner, ch 3, 2 dc in same st, dc in each st around, working 3 dc in each center corner ch, join--76 dc. Fasten off Col B. Turn piece to other side.
Rnd 8: (Side A) Using Col A, work as for Rnd 7, working into unworked front lps from Rnd 6. Fasten off Col A.
Rnd 9: Join MC through both top lps of both cols in any center corner dc. Working through both top lps of both cols, (Ch 3, 2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in same st, sk next st, 3 dc in next st, [sk 2 sts, 3 dc in next st] 5 times, sk next st, *(3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in next st, sk next st, 3 dc in next st, [sk 2 sts, 3 dc in next st] 5 times, sk next st; rep from * twice more, join.
Rnd 10: Sl st to first ch-3 sp, (ch 3, 2 dc, ch 3) in same sp, sk 3 dc, [3 dc between clusters] 7 times, *(3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in corner sp, [3 dc between clusters] 7 times; rep from * twice more, join. Fasten off MC.

Edging
Rnd 1: Join MC to any center corner st, ch 3, 2 dc in same st, dc in each st around, skipping 2 sts of block joins and working 3 dc in each center corner st, join. Fasten off.
Rnd 2: With Side B facing, join Col B in any center corner st, working in front lps only, rep Edging Rnd 1. Fasten off. Turn afghan over.
Rnd 3: (Side A) Using Col A, work as for Rnd 2, working into unworked front lps from Rnd 2. Fasten off Col A.
Rnd 4: Join MC through both top lps of both cols in any center corner st. Working through both top lps of both cols, (ch 6, dc) in same st, dc in each st around, working (1 dc, ch 3, 1 dc) in each center corner st. Join to 3rd ch of beg ch-6; turn.
Rnd 5: Ch 3, dc in each st, working (dc, ch 3, dc) in each corner st. Join, turn.

Rnd 6: Ch 1, sc in each st around, join. Fasten off.

With same color sides facing out, sew blocks tog according to diagram.
