What you’ll need:
Caron Jewel Box yarn in your favorite color, 4 skeins (2.5 ounces per skein)
Size J hook
Stitches to know
Treble Crochet (trc): Yarn over (yo) hook twice, insert hook in stitch, yo, draw loop through, [yo, draw through 2 loops on hook] 3 times.
Notes
The Treble Crochet stitch makes this shawl longer in the back, but short in the front. If you would like your shawl shorter in the back, then replace the treble crochets with double crochets. To make your front longer, try chaining 4 for your v-stitch instead of 3 chains.
Your pattern will increase by one trc v-stitch on each row, making the triangle shape of your shawl. Add or Subtract rows to fit the measurement you want your shawl to be.
Pattern
Row 1: Ch 8, trc in first chain (the other 7 chains count as your first trc plus ch 3), [trc, ch 3, trc] in same first chain. Turn
Row 2: Ch 7, trc in first trc stitch (beginning trc v-stitch made), skip ch 3 space, [trc, ch 3, trc (trc v-stitch made)] in next trc stitch, skip next trc, skip 3 chains, trc v-stitch in 4th chain. Turn

Row 2: Sc in first sc, ch 1, sc in next sc, ch 1, [sc in next 2 sc, ch 1, sc in next sc, ch 1] repeat from [ to ] till the end, sc in last sc. Fasten off.
Fringe
Adding fringe is always fun! We are going to add fringe along the sides of your shawl, in the open spaces only. Cut 24" (inch) strands of yarn (takes approx. one 2.5 oz skein of yarn). Holding 2 strands of yarn together, fold your yarn so you have 4 ends touching. Insert your hook in the first open space, place your fringe with the loop over your hook, pull under the open space, yo your 4 strands onto your hook and pull through loop. Tighten. Repeat around your shawl.
When using Caron Jewel Box yarn, you will need to tie knots at the end of each strand of fringe so your yarn doesn’t fray.
To add a tie at the neck:
Cut a strand of yarn approx. 10” long. Tie knots on both ends for jewel box yarn, pull yarn through any stitch along the neckline and across the other side where you want your tie to be. Tie into a bow.
