Latest Updates

Currently, the rocket hobby is burning brightly for me. As a result, there are many updates to this site.
Here is a list of the most recent major updates:

  • September 27, 2004: Launch reports from XPRS 2004 are ready. I flew my ARLISS 2004 rocket twice and the Crayon Pack (half a time).
  • September 12, 2004: After a long hiatus (could it really have been six years?), the Crayon Pack is finished!
  • September 4, 2004: Painting completed and final assembly done on my ARLISS 2004 rocket.
  • August 7, 2004: Work proceeds on the rebuilt ARLISS 2004, starts on the new Minie-Magg and resumes on the long-delayed Crayon Pack.
  • July 11, 2004: Site updated with new appearance, designed by Brent McNeeley of Rocketeer Media.
  • June 15, 2004: Work starts on my ARLISS rebuild, the ARLISS 2004 or 3UP. Also, design starts on the 1-can ARLISS-K rocket
  • July 27, 2003: Design starts on the next sport scale project, a Delta II, featuring drop-away boosters.
  • June 25, 2003: We finally flew the Just Married rocket at the AERO-PAC Mudroc launch.
  • May 17, 2003: Some T-shirts and similar products are now available through Cafe Press.
  • November 23, 2002: Site moved to new hosting provider. All file names have changed slightly (from .html to .shtml since they SSI). Please update your links and let me know if you find any problems.
  • September 25, 2002: Story and pictures of my two BALLS 2002 flights: the Al Gorilla initial flight and the Nike-Asp 2-stage flight.
  • August 8, 2002: Story and pictures of my two flights of the fourth ARLISS launch and my second test flight of the Flash Gordon 1/5 size model at Aeronaut 2002.
  • July 18, 2002: Story and pictures of the Flash Gordon 1/5 size model flight at LDRS XXI.
  • July 15, 2002: The H.P.R. Kit Building series that I wrote for the Rocketry Online Forums has been posted here to keep it available.
  • July 8, 2002: Construction is well underway on the Flash Gordon rocket. A detour in the process resulted in building a 1/5 size version to fly at LDRS XXI.
  • February 11, 2002: First test run fully completed in the Adhesive Testing article.
  • January 27, 2002: Information on Kevin Small's adjustable version of the slotting jig added to the Perfect Fin Slots article.
  • January 22, 2002: Added more pictures and a diagram to the Fin Beveling article.
  • December 14, 2001: Reorganized rocket list to make it cleaner and show build status.
  • November 12, 2001: Pictures and a launch report added for Gustavo Piņero's launch in Xalapa, Mexico.
  • September 1, 2001: Pictures and a launch report added for my two Aeronaut 2001 flights of the ARLISS 2000.
  • September 1, 2001: John Van Norman's very cool table saw fin slotting article added to my fin slots page.
  • August 28, 2001: Don Milhollan's photos added to the Nike-Asp sustainer page.
  • June 25, 2001: At Mudroc this past weekend, I launched the Nike-Asp sustainer and the rebuilt big Arreaux.
  • June 18, 2001: The Big Arreaux is completely rebuilt and ready to fly this weekend at Mudroc.
  • June 13, 2001: The Magnum flew twice at ROC-stock this past weekend and I have posted a launch report with photos.
  • June 11, 2001: The Nike-Asp (well, the baby Nike booster) is done and ready to fly at MudRock later in June.
  • April 22, 2001: After having just bonded the second quarter of the Nike-Asp baby Nike booster fin can, I have written up an article on the tip-to-tip reinforcement jig I built to do it.
  • April 22, 2001: After the ALRS 2 launch in Switzerland and the flight of my G-FORCE, I had to repair one fin. The launch report, recovery report (a story in itself) and the repair are all documented.
  • April 5, 2001: Wedge Oldham's neat idea for using a fin slot jig to cut tubes added to the fin slot jig page.
  • March 11, 2001: Kent Newman's refinements to the ProRail base added.
  • February 26, 2001: Bob Fortune's great pictures added to the ProRail base page.
