Mission Statement

The University of Bridgeport Master of Science in Acupuncture degree program is an integrated unit of the University of Bridgeport, a private, non-sectarian, comprehensive university. The program's mission is to advance the discipline of acupuncture and oriental medicine through scholarship and research. The program seeks to educate its students to be productive, caring and responsible citizens and professionals. By providing a high level of professional education, the program will produce graduates with a high level of clinical skills who have the commitment and critical judgment necessary to act in the service of others.

The objectives of the program are to:

  1. Provide comprehensive training in Oriental medical techniques and theory;

  2. Support and enhance the profession through research, community service and by educating the general public about the practice and benefits of acupuncture and Oriental medicine;

  3. Become an integrated component of the related disciplines of Chiropractic, Naturopathic Medicine and Nutrition;

  4. Assist in the development, at the University of Bridgeport, of an integrated complementary health care delivery system;

  5. Produce graduates who can meet state and national licensure requirements.
