Tail #1:

Using a provisional cast-on, cast on 45 stitches
Row1: K2, p1,k1,p1,k1 place marker on your needle, (k1,p3) 8 times, k1, place a marker on your needle B6 (see below for explaination of b6)
Rows 2 and 3: B6, * p1, k3, repeat from *, ending p1,b6.
Row 4: b6,* (k1,yo,k1 ) in same stitch, p3tog, repeat from *, ending (k1,yo,k1) in same stitch, B6.
Rows 5: b6, *p3,k1 repeat from *, ending p3, b6
Rows 6 and 7:b6, *k3,p1 repeat from *, ending k3, b6
Row 8: b6 *p3tog, (k1,yo,k1) in same stitch, repeat from * ending p3tog, b6
Repeat Rows 1-8 to obtain the length you desire
Work rows 1-3 once more

Next row: B6, p2tog, (k1,p1) 3 times, p2tog, (p1,k1)2 times, p1, p3tog, (p1,k1) 2times, p1, p2tog, (p1,k1) 3 times, p2tog, b6 (45 stitches reduced to 39 stitches)
Finish Tail #1 by working seven rows of seed stitch, Bind off on the 8the row in pattern.

Neckline Ribbing:
Remove the provisional cast-on picking up the 45 stitches

Set-up Row: with the public/right side of your scarf facing you, slip the first stitch as if to knit,K4,p4,k4,p4,k4,p3,k4,p4,k4,p4,k5
Set-up Row 2: slip the first stitch as if to purl, p4,k4,p4,k4,p4,k3,p4,k4,p4,k4,p4,k1

Row 1: Slip the first stitch as if to purl, K4,p4,k4,p4,k4,p3,k4,p4,k4,p4,k5
Row 2:Slip the first stitch as if to purl, p4,k4,p4,k4,p4,k3,p4,k4,p4,k4,p4,k1

Repeat rows 1 and 2 until the neckline ribbing measures approximately the neck measurement of the intended wearer, between 14 inches/35.5 cm and 15 inches/43 cm. End after working row 2

Tail#2:
Slip the first stich as if to purl, k1,p1,k1,p1,k1, place a marker, *k1,p3 repeat from *, ending k1, place a marker on your needle, B6
Work the same as for Tail #1, beginning with Row 2.
