The Birth Records from the Italian Civil Register of Giovanni Valente and Nunziata DiRenzo of Gambatesa, Molise

Giovanni Valente was born in Gambatesa in 1887, and his wife Nunziata DiRenzo was born in Gambatesa in 1897.  For the first document, the English TRANSLATION IS IN CAPITAL LETTERS.

In both documents all handwritten text is in italics.  This text was added by an official of the civil register to a pre-printed form of a type used throughout the province.  If the official needed more forms than the register book contained, then he added additional records by copying the standard form out in full, word for word.

The year one-thousand-eight-hundred-ninety-seven, on the sixteenth of April, at ten hours antemeridian and thirty-five minutes, at the Casa comunale.  Before me Giovanni Tronca Secretary Delegate by act of the Sindaco duly approved dated thirty May one-thousand-eight-hundred-ninety Official of Civil Registration of the Comune of Gambatesa, is gathered Giuseppantonio di Renzo, of years twenty-one, * contadino, domiciled in Gambatesa, who has to me declared that at eight hours antemeridian and ________ minutes, on the fourteenth day of the current month, at the house located in Via Serrone at number thirty-nine, of Maria Vittoria d'Alessandro his wife, [*] contadina, who lives with him was born a baby of the female sex whom he shows to me, and to whom [he] gives the names Nunziata Pasqualina

  To the above [declaration] and to this document have been present the witnesses Giuseppe Gallo, in years fifty-seven, * contadino, and Bartolomeo Romano, in years sixty-five, * contadino, both resident in this Comune.

  Having read the present document to those present, I myself have signed it, the others being illiterate
