SHE'S one of the highest-profile Kabbalah devotees... and Demi Moore has put her money where her faith is. The Hollywood star joined forces with Madonna to host a lavish £40,000 bash in honour of Kabbalah guru Rabbi Michael Berg, at Home House club in London last night. A source close to Charlie's Angels star Demi, who's rumoured to be engaged to her toyboy Ashton Kutcher, tells us: "Demi is in the UK filming the thriller Half Light and though it's harder for her to attend Kabbalah meetings over here, she's still immersed in her faith. "Rabbi Berg is the founding father of her religion and both she and Madonna credit him with turning their lives around." When Demi, 41, and Madge, 46, who likes to be known by her Hebrew name Esther, found out he was planning a trip to London to promote his new book, they jumped at the chance to host an event in his honour. And they decided that "no expense would be spared" on the star-studded soiree, held at the private West End club, where guests included Mr Madonna Guy Ritchie.

"To hire the venue alone costs £10,000," an insider reveals. "By the time they'd hired extra security, shipped in specially-blessed Kabbalah water, paid for an unlimited bar and macrobiotic canapes for the 50 guests, the bill topped £50,000. "Demi and Madonna are the two most A-list followers of the faith and knew that holding the party would get a lot of publicity for Michael's book." Entitled, Becoming Like God: Kabbalah And Our Ultimate Destiny, the book - which claims we are all "inhabitants of a prison called life" - has become a top-seller in the US. Our spy adds: "Michael's weekly lectures at the LA Kabbalah Center are full of celebs. And they all bend over backwards to please him."

Madonna has already splashed out £12million on a Kabbalah school in New York and reportedly donated a chunk of the profits from her Re-Invention world tour. Followers of the controversial off-shoot of Judaism - rooted in the Old Testament - include Britney Spears, Paris Hilton and Brittany Murphy. "Rabbi Berg must be really chuffed," our mole adds. "He's treated like an A-list star by two of the most famous women in the world." Let's hope they got a free red string bracelet for their troubles...
