No. 10 thread (brown)
No. 10 thread white
Tiny buttons or beads
Rnd 1: Ch 4, 11 dc in 4th ch from hook (12 dc) (Mark this side as the right side)
Rnd 2: Ch 3, dc in same place and 2 dc in each dc around. Join to 3rd st of first ch 3 (24 dc)
Rnd 3: Ch 3, (2 dc in next dc, 1 dc in next dc) around. Join (36 dc)
Now you will be working in rows.
Row 1: Ch 3, dc in next 9 dc, ch 3, turn
Row 2: Dc in same sp and 2 dc in each dc across and in turning ch. Ch 3, turn (20 dc)
Row 3: dc in same sp and in each dc across, 2 dc in turning ch. Ch 3, turn (22 dc)
Now you will be making first arm.
Row 1: dc in same sp and in next 5 dc, ch 3, turn (7 dc)
Row 2: Dc in each dc across, ch 3, turn (7 dc)
Row 3: Dc in each dc across, ch 3, turn (7 dc)
Row 4: dc in each dc across holding last st of ea dc on hook, yo, draw thread thru all 7 loops. Finish off
Row 1: Attach thread in 10th dc from first arm. Ch 3 and dc in rem dc including turning ch. (7 dc)
Repeat rows 2, 3 and 4 of first arm.
Proceed now with the body
Row 1: Right side face, attach thread to first free dc. Ch 3 and dc in same sp. Dc in each dc across, 2 dc in last dc. Ch 3, turn (12 dc)
Row 2: Dc in same sp and ea dc across, 2 dc in last dc, ch 3 turn (14 dc)
Row 3 : Dc in ea dc across, Ch 3, turn (14 dc)
Beginning first leg:
Row 1: Dc in next 6 dc, ch 3, turn (7 dc)
Row 2,3,4: Repeat Row 1 of beg leg
Row 5: Rep row 4 of arm. Finish off
Second leg: Attach thread to next dc near first leg and repeat rows 1 thru 5 of first leg. Finish off
Trim - Attach white starting at neck and working around head ch 2, hdc in same sp, skip 1 sc, sl st in next sc *(ch 2, hdc in same sp, skip 1 dc, sl st in next sc) Rep from * around head. Sl st in end of row, ch 2, hdc in same sp, sl st in end of next row all around the body. (Is this as clear as mud?) Finish off
Add eyes, nose and mouth. I used beads for eyes and nose and crocheted a ch of about 5 to 6 stitches for the mouth. Add buttons and a bow.
Now here's the fun part.
1. Make 2 and join together with wrong sides facing by using the trim directions. Before you close it up, stuff slightly. Now your gingerbread boy has some dimension.
2. Applique three on a sweatshirt.
3. Join several together at the hands
4. If you're using just one layer, stiffen so they won't be so floppy.
5. Make a wreath and put one or 2 or 3 on it.
6. Applique them on a tree skirt
