Biography & Genealogy Files Index The Beaton Institute has a unique collection of files called B&G files, or "Biography and Genealogy" Files. These files consist of genealogical material patrons have given to us. Each file is cross-indexed, so that every name that is mentioned within one of these files appears in its index. Many of these files are not indexed individually, so that, for example, we may not be sure what pages "Smith" may appear on, but we do know that there is a Smith in the file. The files are listed alphabetically. The family name appears in bold print with an asterisk before it. The following information lists where you can find information on that family name. Some information appears in manuscript collections, but most will have a list of B&G Files. To request more detailed information on a B&G file, please contact us and provide as much information as you can. Please feel free to browse through the surnames included in our B&G files.
