Rail Management Corporation (RMC) acquired the AN Railroad, L.L.C. from St. Joe Company on September 1, 2002.  The office and shop facilities are located in Port St. Joe, FL.  The railroad runs 96 miles between a connection with CSXT at Chatahoochee and Port St. Joe, FL.  The railroad serves three chemical companies, one scrap metal shipper, three forest products companies and one barge/rail transload facility.

This railroad was formerly the Apalachicola Northern Railroad, a proud old railroad chartered by the state of Florida on April 7, 1903.  Construction actually began on March 21, 1905 and trains began running between Chattahoochee and Apalachicola in 1907.  The northern 30 miles was relatively easy track construction over soil with good stability and drainage, thereafter the terrain was mostly swampland and today a total of 17,350 feet of bridges and trestles still remain.

In 1933, Edward Ball purchased for DuPont 240,000 acres of timber, a sawmill, the entire town of Port St. Joe and five local companies among them the Apalachicola Northern and its subsidiary, St. Joe Telephone & Telegraph Company.  DuPont built the St. Joe Paper Mill in 1937 and the paper mill was the railroad's largest shipper until it closed in 1999.
