creations. You'll find his killer Quake II models; Civi, Fuel4.46,
Waste, plus their official add-ons and a detailed "how to"
section on model creation.

An electronic artist more than a skinner or modeler, but his
work has proved very popular within the community. I'm sure you're
seen and loved at least one of his works without knowing it was him.
Does a lot of covers and you see his work popping up just about
anywhere. Oh and he works for Valve.
Epic Knights
The website of James Green, lead modeler at Epic Games. They've got a message board, some tutorials and some other goodies, if you're nice on the board. If you want to shake your UT groove thang you should definitely check it out. Their essage board crowd is a helpful lot, with many of our regulars - and Mr. Green himself - making appearances, so stop on by. Look for a full-blown opening of the site in the (hopefully) near future.

for info, programs, tutorials, and tons of free stuff.
3D Matrix
This site is dedicated to the tools you'll need for
all your Quake2 creations. You'll find qME ( model editor ), as well
as these other helpers: qED2 ( level editor ) and qWAL ( PAK texture
tool ).
Aztec
A new 3d modeler/editor by Phillip Martin,
author of the original Q2 modeler. This one isn't released yet, but
it should prove to be a large tool in the Q3A editing scene if the
programmer's past record is any indication.

Discreet/Kinetix
Makers of 3D Studio MAX, the program which a lot of
modelers are using to do the player models. All of the major games
that allow player models are also releasing plugins for this program
as well, that will allow you to directly export to the format needed
for the games. If you're serious about getting into game modeling as
a profession, know this package.
Hash Inc.
Makers of Animation Master 98, a low cost
character creation and animation tool. If you're on a budget
and looking to do quake models, this is probably your first option
above the freeware tools. An excellent program that gives the
best bang for your buck.
Newtek
Makers of LightWave, another extremely popular
program for doing quake models. It doesn't have all the plugin
support from the community that other programs have, but you won't
go wrong with it.
Nichimen Graphics
This company is a supplier of 3D graphics, modeling
and animation software development tools specifically designed for
the professional 3D interactive, gaming and entertainment industry.
They also have released a new software product named Nendo. It is a
3D modeling and 3D painting package that is both simple enough for
the novice and powerful enough for the professional. Cost affordable
too!
Turbo Squid (formerly FreeTextures.com)
This is a clearinghouse where digital artists can make money selling their content and a software package used to find digital art. A growing library with over 70,000 assets available for purchase or free. Definitely something you'll want to check out.

The Surreal Artist's Loft
This goes through how to set up advanced modeling
programs to work with Surreal's format as well as instructions on
how to deal with their freeware modeler. Lots of good info here if
you're into editing for the Drakan engine.

all around good guy to the modeling community. He's helped out on
several models, he's done reviews, models, skins [duh] Plus he's a
MAX, user and you know those guys are the coolest and get into
heaven with just a nod from Saint Peter.
Meshsmith
A team member here at the ole site, Mr. Wrath's been a pretty
good contributor to the modeling community, so you might give his
site a look over. If that's not enough for you, he's got some of the best tutorials on his site as well.
Moto Creations
The leader of the Cybertonian Warriors clan and a first rate Transformer and model author. The man has an absolute fetish with things robotic, but then who doesn't? Another author who's already leaning
towards Q3 models.
Guplicity
Guplik's home page. If you don't know him, you probably know his work, such as TeamRocket for Q3, Carianne for Half-Life, model and animation work for the Machinima series Eschaton, and a whole slew of other top notch stuff. Finally he has agreed to let us host him.

A Discreet trainer with several metric tons of interesting stuff on his site, including several useful Max scripts and plug-ins. Definitely one to check out for Max users.
Voodoo Extreme
A news site that focus on 3d accelerators and the
games that use them. Nothing is usually directly
modeling/animating related but it's a good site to keep an eye on.
