John
Hannabach recently retired as Director, Career Services at Georgia Tech,
a position he held for nearly 12 years. During that period, John was selected
to receive several prestigious awards designated by the student body including,
"Friend of the Student," "Administrator of the
Year" and special recognition by the Society of ANAK.
John has been very active in the professional societies serving NACE,
SACE and GACE in numerous positions, committees and activities. He rose
through the various chairs to become president of both SACE and GACE where
he instituted and implemented a number of new initiatives, including the
STAR Award, Chat with the Presidents, and Year of the Employer, as well
as the transition from SCPA to SACE and the resignation of Jack and Toni
Smith as Executive Secretary of SACE.
John served as the SACE representative to the NACE board and was a SACE
representative to NACE, defining and implementing the organizational restructuring
of the profession.
Georgia Tech was John's second career. He retired from the General Electric
Company after 30 years of service as an engineer and manager of engineers.
John was manager of the Southern Region for the GE Professional Recruiting
and University Relations component. He was a Commissioner on the renowned
Engineering Workforce Commission and is listed in "Who's Who In Engineering."
Too interested in providing career assistance to others to really retire,
John was recently asked to join Right Management Consultants as a Career
Consultant and he has formed HANCON, an independent consulting organization
specializing in college/corporate relations activities and conducting
executive searches for career services directors and corporate recruiters.
