This formerly local band moved away and apparently did pretty well for themselves...
Cringer website -- " Cringer existed from Summer 1985 to Fall 1991... Cringer was Ed, Dave C., Frannis, Simon, Derek, Nigel, Dave Gomez, Harry, Kamala, Lance, and Gardner.
Cringer became The Wrong, Yahweh's Mistake, Left Insance, Oiler, Good Grief, Buttafuco, Naked Aggression, and J Church."
Lance Hahn -- "1985 through 1987 is sort of a blur to me. This is when I started CRINGER. There's a lot to say there. But in the beginning, we just played parties and recorded tapes just like everyone else. We put out three tapes before ever recording a single... SAUD
Lance Hahn -- SAUD was the first real crossover band in Hawaii though they also did Black Flag covers and didn't sound any more metal than the first Suicidal record.

SCARRED FOR LIFE
Lance Hahn -- Obviously, I can't be too objective about this band as I was in the band for a while. The band was basically a straight edge/skate band that did mostly originals. The few covers we did included SOA, Faith and DYS.

Spread
moved to the mainland, they are not the ones on the Fat Wreck comp. short music...

The Squids
Lance Hahn -- The first "punk" band that I can remember was the SQUIDS. They were somewhere between new wave and no wave in my book. But they counted as punk if not only because the punk scene rallied around them and a club called 3Ds. Of the first generation of Hawaii punk bands, they are the only one that I know of that managed to release a record (they put out a four song 7" called "Tourist Riot" in '81 and it's great!).

S.R.O.
Lance Hahn -- I think it stood for Slamming Room Only. They managed to put out a tape which included their classic song "The Mokes Are Coming Out Tonight". It seems pretty dumb, but it's nice that there was such a provincial punk song from Hawaii...
(I have since learned that the band's name was Something Really Offensive)
