COLUMBIA — The Missouri football team had anticipated flying into Lincoln, Neb., on Friday by about 6:15 p.m. But when the team's chartered airplane became mired in the mud on the side of a runway at Columbia Regional Airport and was delayed several hours, plans changed.
Chad Moller, sports information director for MU, said the pilot apparently cut a turn too close upon taxi for takeoff.
“We were only going 2 miles per hour,” Moller said. “So nobody was hurt.”
Moller said they decided to fly this morning so the team could get a decent night's sleep. They anticipated arriving in Lincoln by 8:30 a.m. today. Missouri and Nebraska are due to kick off at 11 a.m.
