November 10, 2003: So long, and thanks for all the fish. There's a plethora of other music-in-commercials (and other media) sites out there. adtunes.com is the most recent I've come across, and seems to be regularly updated (at least, more than I can say about this site). Thanks to everyone who contributed.

About this page

What’s That Song is a site about music in commercials, television shows, etc. It always bothers me when I hear a song that I enjoy, in the background of a program or as the soundtrack for a beer ad, but can’t find out what it is, so I figure other people have the same problem. What’s That Song is for you. Look for an ad, post a request or answer a query, it’s all up to you.

If it were up to me, I’d get rid of advertising as much as possible. To quote Rod Serling, "It is difficult to produce a television documentary that is both incisive and probing when every twelve minutes one is interrupted by twelve dancing rabbits singing about toilet paper."

Some notes: I live in Southwestern Ontario, so I tend to see more Canadian than American commercials, and I listen almost exclusively to CBC Radio, so I don’t hear many radio ads. (The CBC is a Good Thing.) Campaigns are given where known, but ad titles are generally my own. Also, most commercials use anonymous soundalike bands; I’ve listed the original artists.
